So somehow while looking at battery sites for deals I ended up on ebay and stumbled across this posting:

I know that Ford has had a lot of recalls on these cells. Is there a dead giveaway (part # or something) that would indicate these are part of the recall that maybe just never made it into a car? Price seems too good to be true and we all know that adage...

I've asked the seller for documentation/proof/pictures/cell configuration you name it. I want know what the cells are and the AH of them. The goal would be to buy a few of these tear em down to build 48V ESS. Throw a chill plate underneath them.

I know nothing about the Mustang cells. I watched a video where some guys (pros of some kind not random dudes) were showing a teared down one similar looking but for a Ford Explorer, they went into all the little engineering details about them. Those cells looked great and like I said almost identical looking (from a computer) to the Mustang cells.

So any thoughts?
Or does anyone know more about these batteries?

I'm seeing used ones going for $800 + and this guy is selling brand new ones for $500?? Sketch alert! Sketch alert!
He does have good ratings as an ebay seller.

This would be a large project undertaking and I'm sure as heck not doing if the cells are on a recall list or simply don't have enough AH to make it worth my time and effort.

Just curious what you folks that are way smart than me have to say and can come up with. I'm not buying anything of course right now.

Many reports from lightning and presumably mache owners about battery modules needing to be replaced under warranty.

I would say of all the batteries on the market these would the worst to do a project with because it could well fail randomly down the track tho it looks visibly fine. I guess lg lithium ion would be worse. From accounts Ford would get notified when the bms detected pre failure in some batteries, proactively asking owners to bring their vehicles in, which wouldn't be available in an aftermarket deployment.
