Too many projects, now where did I put that...

For me it is ALWAYS the 9/16 wrench... or the flat head screwdriver ...when I need a phillips all can find are flat heads and when I neeed a flat all I can find are phillips.... and I have a drawer with literally a hundred screwdrivers in it.

I own at least six tube cutters. I only know where one is.

I know this has been said before. "It was in the last place I looked".

Hmmm... Let me think about that a minute

I went to a flea market one weekend and came across a few lonely old Craftsman wrenches for 50¢ a piece, so I picked them up. A couple of weeks later I found a couple of extensions and a speed handle, real cheep. A couple of months later I realized I only needed a coupl more to make a complete set, so started browsing local pawn shops and ebay to find the missing pieces. Somewhere along the way I ended up with 5 or 6 sets of combination wrenches, a couple sets of open end wrenches, 2 or 3 sets of box end wrenches and still a few odd singles ... in SAE and metric. And a drawer full of sockets and ratchets too.

I already had a pretty decent tool set but it seemed never where I needed them. Now I've got tool boxes in the RV and in the house as well as the big tool chest in the shop pretty well filled up. No matter what I am doing I don't have to go far to find a wrench or a socket.

Stop bragging! GOSH!

Collecting tools was cheaper than collecting drum sets, and VWs.
Ah...VW Beetles...had 3 at the same time once.
Used a lot of 10, 13 and 15mm socket sets on those ^^.
Swapped engines, gearboxes etc. Fun times!

I had seven dodge Neons, all 2004's 2.0L Automatics.
Most of them matching colour. Seven cars to keep four on the road.
-Got the kids through college with those cars. nothing like having a lot of interchangable parts, engines, trani, that are all identical.
This year the last Neon clocked out, and all the doners, parts, pieces, doors and hoods all got loaded up and taken to scrap yard - got paid a good dollar for those old beaters.
My wife is soooooo happy those old Neons are finally gone.
- Now to start working on a new collection - old Tractors!!
{she is going to kill me...} LOL.

I will admit to nothing about the 10 Mustangs I own. Yep, having lots of the same cars makes it easy to keep spares on hand, especially once you learn what are the "consumable" parts.

At one point I had a Craftsman ~100 piece tool set in each of them. Now since they're all together in one location and I'm not continually swapping between them I just grab a set for whichever one I drive.

I swapped the clutch disc, pressure plate and throw out bearing in the turn lane on highway 1 in Guam. I just happened to have the parts and tools in the back seat. My buddy and removed the engine bolts, sat it on the ground and walked the car over it forward. Took about 20 minutes. When I stepped on the clutch peddle the bearing exploded from a crack in it.

OK. Perhaps I am the only one. I have more than one project going on right now. Between a bathroom remodel and a portable build I have tools distributed in creative places to help me get things done. As a result the neat and orderly has well, sort of lost its place.

Currently looking for a wire stripper I picked up recently. It is someplace. Now if I can just place my hands on it.

OK. Found it. Now to get that component. Gosh, now I need to make another trip to the big box store for a ...

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this.

Not even a small chance that you are the only one.

Seems like I can never finish one thing or stick to one hobby.

Projects I'm in the middle of or considering starting.
1. Amateur radio HF antenna for house and portable ops, have the portable covered.
2. Amateur radio 2m vertical, new one to replace an older smaller gain, storm damaged one.
3. A Nice entry box for all the Antennas with all the grounding bonding.

4. Building/Leaning how to build a DIY Solar Charger vs buying one.

5. Restoring my (well past beat) 82 Chevy C10 Square body Lowrider to a nice cruiser and car show toy... Pretty much every body panel will be replaced, maybe the motor, all the interior, has 18s, want to go to 22s. Will also Airbag it. So it can layout at shows.

6. Working on a small 100Yard plus Gun range with Steel Targets.

7. Prepping and maybe building a large Pond to be able to use as filterable Drinking water if need be. I have several friends with heavy equipment who do excavation I'm going to talk too 1st. Maybe something 40'Wx60'Lx6.5' Deep with a channel for fish... Need to get some soil samples to see if my land would hold it or not. If I've got to bring in and spread several tractor trailer loads of clay, or something like that, I'll probably just pass and just stick to draining off our creek that parallel to our road and runs year-round...

Long term best tool lost I have personally witnessed was a lost flashlight in a ceiling, 14 years later it was located and when turned on glowed dimly.

In 2001. We had a 40 foot container stolen off a job. So I guess these were misplaced tools as we couldn't find them. LOL!
Anyway, one off my co-workers who was known for misplacing tools and not able to find them, went to a flee market in Chula Vista California and found his tools (engraved with his name) for sale and the contents of the container (Tools Engraved with company name) also for sale. The police ended up busting a multi-million dollar theft ring.
