Hey Folks. Can a rPi running venus OS talk to a blue smart charger over blutooth?
I can't seem to find a compatible devices list.
Thanks!
Then again, the necessary cable isn’t a big investment.Well drat. Thanks for peeing on my eggo!![]()

Ah - Good to know, and glad I don't have one. That seems like a terrible design, btw. Really limits future expansion. Not very Victron-esque, in my view. There is no cable. The bluesmart can only be accessed via BT w/VictronConnect.

Yeah, my use case is pretty uncommon. This is for a back up battery on a communications repeater. It is on a mountain top and a PITA to get to. I was hoping to use the venus OS to be able to see what the charger is doing and use the extra i/o of the pi to trigger a relay and force the system to go on back up power to test.Victron-esque means you likely already have an inverter/charger in the system that will stomp the crap out of their plug-in AC-DC chargers.
GX devices are intended for complete systems managing notably more powerful devices. Bluesmart are tinker-toys by comparison, and they're likely not needed.
If you enable "has dc system" in vrm that should track any output from the charger in a black box type of way.Yeah, my use case is pretty uncommon. I do have another way of doing it but not as elegant, plus I can't see the charger data.

Yes it shows the losses of my 450/100 in there and take a while to settle if theres a lot of intermittent clouds for me but pretty accurate for midnite Rosie tracking purposes.Yep. it's a garbage bin number though... without a smartshunt or BMV-712 acting as a DC energy meter, it just plops any unaccounted for power in this bin, but it's probably big enough difference to allow you to draw some conclusions.

Runs on a cerbo or pi running venus os:vrm?
300a smart shunt is so cheap it’s hard not to snag a few.
