diy solar

Very new to solar but started purchasing items, not sure of the final specs of the whole system.

Took oneside back to grid at 2:30am this morning, sunlight only lasted for abour 40mins yesterday. The two big banks were at 27%, today very a hazy but making between 120/140 since 11:00am amps. Going to take at least two days to get the bank fully charged.

Starting replacing the 6awg to 2awg on the sccs which is actually recommend in the manual. But the current was much lower than it is now. Tuff part is the past 6 days we had about 5 hours of hazy sun rest just clouds and fog. The main banks could not keep up with the load. The smaller bank that runs all the fridges, tv, appliances is doing well. Even with all the panels I did not have enough for one side.

After 9 days we finally had full day of sunlight with slight haze. Since taking inverter one down it took 3 days to charge the banks with zero load, 2 of those days were cloudy. 3s 6p scc are really putting out the amps and this is not peak time, that is just one of them. Even though the I lost the mptt in the inverters one thing I like is the .1v adjustments on the scc. I had emailed a few things that growatt could update on the inverters a long time ago as they only allow .2. Even the 2awg was just barely warm today but nothing like the 6awg.

Moved back to completely off grid, moved arrays around to see if that will help to beat the cloudy days. For bulk cells they are doing so well keeping together considering the wires etc between the parallel connections. Looking to purchase another 30 panels but trying to find a better price on them than the previous ones.

Santan is really low on any panels.

These are a good deal but since I have only bought pallets from them you cannot order spares so I do not feel like taking the chance.

Love to find a pallet of panels that are 39.1-w, and 1.18-h in the similiar price range.

Results are not to bad today:

Hayley had a few more of my older eve's so I bought those just in case. I will do another test and video on those. This month has just been nothing but clouds and we have been barely getting by. I'm looking for investors to get in early on my new ground mount system only need 500m to help bring to market. Going to mount 6 and just see what it can produce. I'm running out of room the other option the steep hillside where the other two arrays are. I have no idea if this angle would be a waste or not. Shading from the other panels on the hillside would start to hit them by 3:48 in the winter. But I would like to mount another 30 panels somewhere to overcome the cloudy days.

3rd time in 32 days I have taken the system down due to clouds and today snow.
Both banks were nearing 30% today was supposed to be sunny but instead woke up to several inches of snow.
I need to research how hard it would be to run the grid into the inveters for charging. That way I would not
need to switch on / off.

I found this interesting bit of info . Based on the advice of several here and resellers I purchased a Growatt SC 4880-mpv 250 VOC scc. From What I have been told (Ian at Watts247) this scc is the same SCC that is in the Growatt 12kw 250 vdc inverter AIO.

But oddly, these detailed specs are not in the manuel of the inverter AOI , and no one ever mentioned all the specs an limitations I found in the SCC manual that was in the box.

Notice the specs of the 150 VOC units on the left and the specs of the corresponding 250 VOC units are on the right especially things like operating voltage dc. This might have been what happened to your built in SCCs @kromc5 ?

What is really odd is the 60v min, growatt logged in and stated when I was at 92v it was unstable. The inveter would constantly shutoff the pv input. I took the panels and moved to the scc and it ran perfectly fine. I do not remeber the total drop of the panels under load. But I suspect that under load with clouds it most likely caused it to go under the min. Let me add the same panels on the scc ran fine. I did measure 144.1v so many it did go over at one time.

Looking for panels and came across these panels. Hail is very rare here but this would be a terrible to have this happen.
Must of been decent size since you can see the dep impacts on the other side.

Almost finished today, I had done a row of 15 by 5s but wanted to move them to 4s to make sure it had plenty room for voc.
I added an extension onto the 12 panel array next to it so I could make it 16 panels. Wired them across the top to mitigate the shading the slowly goes upward in the evening. Taking a break and will start cleaning up the wiring. It's amazing how long the banks can run the house but the cloud cover has been very steady for over a month now.

Changes in the panels are doing well with production, we have been in the high 30's. New had been stating a cold front would hit yesterday evening and we went down 16f. The panels with no load hit very closet to the open voc. On the 4s I measured 198.1 today and that was inside and 125ft from the panels. Still postive at 7300 watts.

Currently 13f you can hear the difference in the heatpump and the amps are way up. Running nonstop but the dual banks handle the load so much better than a singular bank. The sag is so much less, but already hit 33kwh for today which is only for the heating usage.

Here's the usage just for the heat at almost 2 hours later, coldest temps of the year.

Starting from 12:00am used almost 40kwh, only 52% left out of 117kwh. This is only the heating, I guessing the 5ton would have used so much more based on its amps.

Only 26 panels left in sunlight but it got close but will drop to negative by 5:30.
Usage was crazy high again today for the heat side but guess the panels produced around 55+kwh today.
I really would like to add another 30 beside the 125ft array since they get the most sun after 3:00pm.
