diy solar

diy solar

Very new to solar but started purchasing items, not sure of the final specs of the whole system.

Here's what amazing summer vs winter, many back to back weeks from Dec to Feb we never got a full charge. But summer due to mainly due not needing the heat at night its done before 11:30am. We do run the mini split downstairs every night for ac in the summer but its usage nothing compare to the 3 ton.

Strange watching tv inverter 2 seems to be slowly restarting more often, 4 today. Then it may go a few weeks no rhyme or reason to it.
Restarts 1.jpg the lines almost run together to fast they are.

It has been extremely dark full clouds and we are staying postive. Not much output from so many panels but its positive and carrying the loads so I will call it a win.

It took alot more panels than I thought but its doing really well, two days of dense clounds and rain so far.
Yeterday it produced enough to slightly charge the banks and handle basic loads. Today its solid cloud
cover but not as heavy.

Seller accepted my return on the wiring, second time over the last two years. Spoke with Ethan at signature and they asked me to reset and update the firmware. Now to just wait and see if that corrects the issue.

Dealer sent a few pictures of the truck and should be able to take delivery in 3 months. We had tried for a bolt ev or euv but due to the current pricing it was less expesive to buy the truck. Due to the demand and the slow battery replacements many dealers near me are prcing the bolt LT models at 50k, even saw a few ford dealers adding 40k to the lighting. But many more ford dealers are selling at msrp vs chevy.

Since the firmware update the inverter has not restarted yet.

All mrcool units, 3t running switched fan to high, 1.5t mini all 3 splits on high, getting later in the day but doing great.
Wonder if this is a decent figure for consumption?

Talked with Haley and order a few more batteries, I already had a bunch of spares. Now I have enough to make a 4th 4p16s, the real problem is the copper plate. Onlinemetals even with a coupon code is to high.
So far the best place: https://www.metalsdepot.com/brass-products/copper-flat-bar
I'm using 1.5 by .25 stock need 5 by 144 inch to make the busbars.
If anyone has a better place they would like to share that would be great.

I will update on the batteries once they arrive.

Hayley's company

I'm using 1.5 by .25 stock need 5 by 144 inch to make the busbars.

Very robust, but is that large a cross-section actually necessary?
1" x 0.125" is 40% the price, $100.

Goes on aluminum terminals?
Would prefer tinned copper to bare copper.

McMaster-Carr, 1.5" x 0.25" by 6' bare copper $153
On-line metals, similar price. Last time I checked them, was cheaper than McMaster

How about aluminum?
Metals Depot:
1.5" x 0.25" is $45

I used tinned copper before but the price is so high now, I always use ox-guard for the connections.
Hoping if I could not find tinned that that it would be fine with ox-guard? I experimented with 1 inch in the beginning just experiment but I really liked the 1.5 inch.

No restarts yet since updating the firmware on inverter 2. Usage the past 4 days has been very high.

Played around with lengths and ordered the tinned copper from online metals, was able to cut the shipping down by roughly $144, plus a coupon.

Difficult to get it to focus, 94f making alot of energy. There are so many small details missing in the picture.
Have to try again the lens fogged when I went out.

No resets yet since the firmware update. Spoke with onlinemetals yesterday and they said the tinned copper is very hard to get. They source all tinned copper in the USA. Expected ETA is the middle of next month or later. I have been trying to find a greenworks stander to replace my ferris z2 but not having much luck. I have emailed the company twice but not received any responses.

Batrium responded today, they had moved and are still sorting packages. They said they are having a very hard time with supply. Some of the parts needed will not be in stock to late august.
