Victron is Over-priced Eurotrash. Why would anybody buy Victron over an AiO?

Nice! How much PV and Batteries you putting with those? And which SCC? I was looking at my setup this evening planning how/where I'll mount my RS450/200.
Looking to get four 314 ah batteries but still on the fence on which manufacturer to go with.

With the help of timselectric from this thread - going this route for the setup. Man he is a great wealth of knowledge and really appreciate his help.

I’m starting out with a 450/100 and then going to add some 250/100’a if I can fit and make them work.

I went with 4 x 300Ah trophy with mine but they’re a little pricey. I’m doing another dual 10k Quattro for someone and we’re going to do the Midnight Solar 300Ah batteries. I like that they have active balancers. Hard to be the warranty on the Trophy’s though.

I’ve been looking hard at Engineer 775’s recommendation of the Discovery Helios. They look solid but I’m also looking at the RUiXU’s 314 Ah batteries but haven’t decided yet.

I’ve looked at the Trophy’s but what scares me is if he’s going to be around for warranty. A small business. Solid but what happens if he’s not around.

With the RUixUS, they’re china made like everything else and everything that comes with that.

I believe the Trophies are also China sourced. The single employee/owner situation can be risky but I've read stories where he personally drove a long distance to swap out a battery that was having issues, that level of support simply won't happen with other sellers.

The discovery helios is definitely interesting, especially its ability to surge to 300A output for 15 seconds, from its regular 200A rating. So if you were only getting say one or two batteries, could help with startup surges.

Trophy like pretty much all LFP at this point are China sourced . The discovery Helios looks interesting but the fact they have no pride and say request a quote….they must be more expensive then the Trophy…

$3574 at NAZ:

Wonder if they have active balancer like the Midnight PowerFlo16? Didn't see anything in the spec sheet, I contacted them asking if it was active or passive. I'm guessing passive since they haven't mentioned active.

Heard back from Discovery and their Helios batter is passive balanced. Seems like a decent battery but I'd want to hear others experience first before I personally tried them.

I think theres a few in the xw pro thread that grabbed some when they went on clear out at $2900 or so.

A smartshunt can network with a smartsolar controller, right?

If so, what is the benefit of networking them? I've been watching videos about the smartshunt and people keep saying "you can network them together and it's better" and even never say why....

You over BT called VE.Smart, or can be done via a cerbo/venus but is hardwired.

It shares the shunts true battery voltage to the SCC so the cabling voltage drop from the SCC to the battery is negated and you get a true 100% charged battery. In float if load is pulled from the battery it then allows the SCC to bump up charging to maintain full battery.

IMO it’s the proper way to do “closed loop” coms, no need to talk to a BMS.

When two or three SCC are connected you can set max charging current and they all synchronize.

With the Victronconnect app you can watch this happen in realtime. Its amazing to see this happen... changing as to whats going in thru scc's vs out thru the inverter.. and it seems to be changing constantly.

It can also share the temperature when the shubt has a temp probe.
Which is good for low temperature protection for lithium.
And voltage compensation for lead.
I ran for months without the smart network, once activated charging in greatly improved.

IMO victron should offer a slight discount every packaged sale of a SCC and a shunt. Or combo packed kits.

15v max battery voltage? Shouldn’t it be more like 14.2-14.6v?

What’s up with that?

Eitherway, from a PV max of 170w that’s great daily Kwhr output!
I had a cheap mppt and foldable panel running in parallel with this. The readings were coming from that when full. I have removed that now.

Thanks. Southern California sun and it's not 110F yet. I have shading from a power pole at 10am. I haven't been home during that time to see if I can move the panels away from it. 2 x 100 watt bifacial panels.

When you have remote monitoring 180 miles away, but have a contractor working at your camp and can keep an eye on the system knowing it’s earning its keep. I’m guessing it’s a chop saw, yesterday they were pegging over 2000w.

The little 24/3000 multiplus is putting in good work!
