Victron is Over-priced Eurotrash. Why would anybody buy Victron over an AiO?

We've just hit 2000 posts on the Eurotrash thread!
Congratulations! 🎉

But look out, that fiasco that turned into a s-show thread about Deye/Sol-Ark is catching up quickly (currently at 1850).
--

And just to stay on topic, Victron just updated the Bluetooth interfaces on shunts and MPPTs to version 2.52.
I'm hoping for better reception.

Hmmm... changelog still shows 2.50, but I see I'm being offered an update on VC... come on guys!!!!! update the changelog!

I had to look up the meaning of "igp". Google said:
(1) (Interior Gateway Protocol) A broad category of routing protocols that support a single, confined geographic area such as a local area network (LAN). Contrast with EGP. See routing protocol.
That doesn't seem like what is being described. I suspect IGP to mean integrated graphics processor.

In this case, he means integrated graphics processors.

Yes i do they same.

I have find that odido (old t-mobile) i have 5g lte connection with out limits.
Yes no data limit .
Just for 25 euro with down speed of yes really .
1000Mbps per sec .
Stop rubbing in your cheap euro trash cell data plans. The monopolies over here want to charge you >100/month at 1/4 the advertised speed, and you end up with 1/16th the speed in real world.

So the Pi has junk graphics, yet the blue cerbo GX has the bells and whistles.

I guess it’s a trade off for me saving about 100-200.
No its that the drivers are not thare for the os.
Even after update the code it do not work.
But it will come.
Victron is working on it.

Ive actually found the cerbo gx's Ive bought to be a very good investment vs the pi route.

1. It just works. Very valuable piece of the buy it and forget its there policy.

2. It has all kinds of built in ports. Even relays to run things. Pi requires a good bit of effort, additional hardware, drivers, etc to do the same thing.

3. It runs happily on 8 to 70 volts dc. No external power supply needed since it can run happily off the batteries running your system. Love this feature since most of the cerbo's I have run off 12, 24 and 48v battery setups I have. Big win!

4. Good stable network setup. No hassles getting it working.

I don't even know how many I actually own of these now off the top of my head but its quite a few now. I use them mostly to handle the smart shunts and I have a bunch of those from the crypto farming setup.

What happened to the idea of "it just works".
Yeah this 3.50 official update def broke “this is easy” when running an external display, needing command line prompt with no keyboard on hand stunk. Serves me right thinking I need an update.

But at least I learned some things and got it back working.

Its what your need

Cerbo have 2 models
The cheap model do not have Relay on it.
So its the same function like a pi.

For the rest i do not have problems with the pi.
If it runst and leave it , it stay running .
It can be cheaper by only use the pi and case.
Cost about 50 dollar.
And you can even go lower than that by use the pi-zero.

The moment you need a extra relays switch than its best to go to a Victron owns unit.

But one thing is correct the pi only works with usb to victron-ve cable.
And that can the price up.

Than again its all about your setup.

What is running on my pi after i have set new cable for power (victron 100/20 model do not have extra output for power what i do use on the 75/15 model)

2x Victron 12/1200 inverters.
100/50 and 100/20 mppt.
A shunt (soon)
Gps unit .
So with that setup the pi is cheaper to use.

The other day I made a comment about how our shed system is fully charged most days by about 10am and my wife asked if there was a way to get some of that power into the house. Well, we have a generator power inlet fairly close to the shed, so I ran an extension cord from the shed to the house, plugged in a IP22 charger and we are now pulling power from the shed to top off the batteries in the house. And I used VE Networking between the IP22 charger and the solar charge controllers so all of the chargers are coordinated and should switch stages as the batteries fill up. That was easy!

Between voltage drop in the extension cord and conversion losses it looks like we use about 220 watts from the shed panels to put 200 watts into the house batteries. Batteries in the shed are still full.

Well, that was quick. The Deye/Sol-Ark thread now has 2030 posts.

But they can keep that thread, ours is more fun!
Thanks to @wiseacre for the advertising.

Post in thread 'CHINA kills all non Sol-Ark branded DEYE unit in the USA this morning.'

Soon a car Android radio with 10ich panel in the boat .
This.model have wifi .
So i can connect it with the PI .
With the victron connect app on the radio and i can read out the systeem wel i'm with the boat on the way.
Its for the dc to dc charger that later come for the alternator.

Just think how flexibel the software and systeem are.
Other bonus with the car radio i can set maps on it for the boat like a plotter.

Well news thinks to toy with.

I have see the mastervolt systeem that can do the same but than again it cost more than Victron systeem.

Ask my self what brands are same flexibel use ????

The stereo in my new camper does Bluetooth/Android Auto but I don't think it does WiFi. That would have been too convenient to be able to see the output from the Cerbo GX on that stereo screen.

There's not a way to see the Lynx Shunt's state of charge on VictronConnect on my phone, right? I can see it on VRM through my phone but I don't always have Internet connectivity.
