Hello, looking for ideas on optimal settings for Victron Multiplus 3000 12v using victronconnect (or is using vedirect better?) with the Chins 300ah lifepo4 battery and charging/using 30 amp shore.

To start this is all the battery specs I could find on it specifically:
Chins 300ah LiFePO4:
Rated Capacity (0.2C): 300Ah / 3840Wh
Cycle life: 2000+ cycles at 80% discharge depth
Rated voltage: 12.8V
Charge voltage: 14.2 - 14.6V
Depth of Discharge (DoD): 100%
Standard charge current: 60A
Charging time: Approximately 6 hours
Max continuous charge current: 100A
Max continuous discharge current: 200A
Peak discharge current: 600A (Duration: less than 3 seconds)
Operating temperatures: Charge 0°C~50°C(32°F~122°F),
Discharge -20°C~60°C(-4°F~140°F), Storage -20°C~50°C(-4°F~122°F)

7. AES: off

8. power assist: on

(not sure what this should be)
5. repeated absorption time: 1.00h
(not sure what this should be)
6. absorption time: 8h
(not sure what this should be)
7. charge curve: fixed
(not sure what this should be)

Regular wall sockets are often 15A. I'd choose 14.5A.

3. dynamic current limit
(not sure the best practice)

Default.

4. Enable battery monitor on/off
(I have bmv712 so I need this on or off?)
5. battery capacity
300ah

6. state of charge when bulk finished

Disable battery monitor

Grid:
1. Accept wide input freq range (45-65hz)
on/off
(not sure what this should be)

ON is helpful if you have a dirty AC input signal from grid or generator.

2. UPS function
on /off
(not sure what this should be)

ON = will use grid/generator power when able and take over if AC input is lost.

OFF = If you just want to use it as a charger and power the loads all the time with the inverter

3. ac low voltage disconnect
(not sure what this should be)
4. ac low voltage connect
(not sure what this should be)
5. ac high voltage connect
(not sure what this should be)
6. ac high voltage disconnect
(not sure what this should be)

Leave the above at the default.

Inverter:
1. inverter output voltage: 120v

2. ground relay: on

3. dc input low-shutdown: 9.30v
(not sure what this should be)
4. dc input low restart: 10.90v
(not sure what this should be)

These aren't very flexible. I would set #3 to 10V and it will adjust #4 for you.

5. dc input low pre-alarm: 10.90v
(not sure what this should be)

Default

6. low soc shutdown: disabled
(not sure what this should be)

Only meaningful if you have the battery monitor enabled.

7. AES: off

8. power assist: on

PA off unless you really need it due to weak AC input.

9. assist current boost factor: 2.0
(not sure what this should be)

Charger:
1. charge current: 90a
(not sure what this should be)

Your "standard charge current" is 60A.

2. absorption voltage: 14.60v
(not sure what this should be)

14.2-14.6 per the battery spec.

3. float voltage: 13.80v
(not sure what this should be)

13.6V

4. repeated absorption interval: 7.00d
(not sure what this should be)
5. repeated absorption time: 1.00h
(not sure what this should be)

.25h

6. absorption time: 8h
(not sure what this should be)

1h

7. charge curve: fixed
(not sure what this should be)

Adaptive.

8. Lithium batteries: on
9. use equalization: off
10. weak ac input: off
(not sure what this should be)
11. stop after excessive bulk: on

Ignore all settings below as they pertain to grid-tie operations:

AC input control:

1. conditional ac input connection: off
(not sure what this should be)
2. ac input connect based on load: off
(not sure what this should be)

3. connect when soc drops below: off

4. connect when battery voltage drops below: off

5. disconnect ac input on: battery voltage

6. disconnect when voltage is higher than 16v

7. delay before disconnection: 0w

Regular wall sockets are often 15A. I'd choose 14.5A.

Snoobler, this helped me start to get an idea but I have some questions.

1. My shore power is standard 30 amp however the battery spec for standard charge current on this setup is 60amp and this is what I am supposed to put for the charge current under charge settings in victron connect. Isn't that bad because it exceeds 30amp shore power?

2. Under Inverter section, dc input low shutdown/restart/alarm, I cannot find where or how to determine this. Is the manufacturer to provide this as I cannot find it anywhere?

3. Under charger options float voltage where did you get 13.6v?

4. Under charger options Repeated absorption interval what value should this be and where would one arrive at that value and why?

5. Under charger options Repeated absorption time what value should this be and where would one arrive at that value and why?

6. Under charger options absorption time what value should this be and where would one arrive at that value and why?

Thanks!

In contrast to snoobler I would set the max power at 12 amps for a 15 amp outlet. This is based on the NEC 125% rule for continuous load circuits. While NEC does not directly apply to this application the reasoning is still valid.

You can easily get 60 amps into a 12 volt battery from a 30 amp 120v supply. OK to run it down to 40 amps charging if you like. If you are expecting a fast charge to minimize generator run time you might be able to go higher than 60 amps depending on the generator.

No.

IN: 120V * 30A = 3600W

OUT: 60A * 12V = 720W

One refers to current pulled in @ 120V

The other refers to current output @ 12V.

2. Under Inverter section, dc input low shutdown/restart/alarm, I cannot find where or how to determine this. Is the manufacturer to provide this as I cannot find it anywhere?

LFP is typically around 10V. The defaults should be fine. The batteries have their own protection via the BMS.

3. Under charger options float voltage where did you get 13.6v?

3.4V * 4 = 13.6V = maximum recommended float for LFP

4. Under charger options Repeated absorption interval what value should this be and where would one arrive at that value and why?

7 days is fine. This is intended for for lead-acid batteries. Honestly, 45d is the maximum, and I would personally prefer that if you actually have to leave this thing plugged into shore power all the time. If that's the plan, another conversation needs to happen.

5. Under charger options Repeated absorption time what value should this be and where would one arrive at that value and why?

LFP needs very little absorption time. 0.25h is the minimum allowed by Victron.

6. Under charger options absorption time what value should this be and where would one arrive at that value and why?

See answer to #5. 1h is the minimum allowed by Victron.

So if I plug into standard outlet your saying 12 amp is technically what I should set setting ac1 input current limit. How about if I plug into 30a shore power I should set that setting to like 20 amp input current limit?
