Was Your DEYE Shut Down?

All of this looks to be over blown hysteria!
This could just be a bad software update that needs corrected.
Just offering an alternate opinion like all politicians!
Unlikely a bad software update.
It is most likely an canary deployment, by rolling out a software update to a small part of the users and see it goes.

I am curious if any of you saw this on your non Sol-ark Deye unit?

Did Sol-Ark force Deye to do this? (That is the only conclusion I can come to)

Why assume that Sol-Ark initiated this? There's no threat of Deye units being deployed in the USA anymore. There's a higher probability of that happening in the UK or Pakistan as they don't have split phase power. Split phase is not common outside of North America.

Sure there is. That's what this is all about. People are buying from other split-phase markets, because Deye units don't have the Sol-Ark 100% markup price.
Split phase is not common outside of North America.
There are actually many places outside of North America which use split-phase.
Otherwise, the non Sol-Ark branded split-phase Deye models wouldn't be still available.

The reason that these agreements exist. Is because the rebranding distributors wanted to corner their own markets. And Deye would rather outsource the sales and support, to mostly concentrate on the manufacturing side.

Your hate of Solark leads to your unfounded speculation!

Also possible this is a hack, and penetrated only a couple inverters found on the web.
Not carried out thoroughly enough to brick everything out there.
I was expecting reports to pile up, but they didn't.

Could be a swatting (has the mob with pitchforks arrived at target victim's house yet?)
Or just for the fun of it.
Or to smear one or more of the parties.

Would a hack list the authorized dealers ?
Would a hack tell the customer to return the unit?
Would a hack offer a way out with a five digit code?

I don't see that happening.

So not a hack.
however,
Seems SolArk were "ready" with a discount and time frame for the replacement SolArk units.
If you purchased an official SolArk unit, but your neighbour bought the Deye, and now they get a SolArk but at lower price than you paid...are you pissed?

Can you call and "SAY" you had a Deye, and it is locked up, - so you can get a SolArk below market price?

No, why should I be? My neighbor just spent more than me by buying 2 inverters. I'd probably be happy that my neighbor is no longer gloating about how much cheaper his Deye was than my Sol-Ark.

Look at what this has accomplished, if only popping up on a couple inverters.

Everyone is paranoid.
A couple well known names are smeared.
The request for code could simply be how it is presented, with no code available (or a code could be offered outside channels for a price.)

NotPetya popped up a message like typical ransomware, but didn't actually offer a way out.

It could be a swatting, could be a hack for fun, could be by one or another party simply to smear others.

The screenshot saying SolArk offers a way to help Deye owners is ... interesting.
My google for recent SolArk Deye still returns little to nothing.
Sol-Ark.com is offline at least at this moment, can't check there. 503 Service Unavailable
