Well this happened! What is happening? Help!

Way off topic but I am ready to get away from melting wires!

The latest trend is to connect all the AI facilities directly to nuclear reactors or even put it under the facility.

Even the Si-Fi never though of this. Nobody would have ever believed we were so fricken stupid.

I want to have a couple mile long transmission lines and batteries outside the building that we can take out if necessary.

We are the batteries...

5. It will let the wife in the house or the workshop when her fingerprints won't work the lock keeping me from having to go do it. Never have figured out why I have to re-add her fingerprints to the scanners.
Doppelgänger. Be careful out there! 🤪

I have that style on my gokwh 5kwh rack mount. I hate them because I can't put a decent 1/0 lugs on them I think biggest maybe 4awg?

Usually they are tiny yeah. So irritating. I think the biggest you could squeeze on there was 2awg. The lifepower V2’s can fit a 2/0 lug now though. Which is nice.

Glad it got resolved. I did not realize those lugs tubes were so large that they could actually hit the screws. The earlier photo looked like there was quite a bit of height on the posts.

The cable was shorting on the screws on the front terminals. Everything working now.
Shouldn't the case be floating? If one cable shorted to the terminal mounting screw it would not spark but if 2 opposite polarity cable lugs shorted to terminal mounting screws it would spark. Also could be a short inside one of the cases which shouldn't be there.

Yeah, I understand it was +ve on one pack and -ve on another. Two faults to danger!

Looks like one could design and 3D print different bits of plastic, to either replace that plastic that the terminal screws are screwed into, or go on top of the screws but under the wire (if the plastic can't be removed)
Just realized my 50Ah came with terminal covers, they slide on using the slot in the terminal mount....however with the slot gap on the rear of the cover you could still run into that issue with lugs reversed and contacting. Also doesn't fit properly when using double lugs to daisy chain which is understandable.

Just received terminal posts from aliexpress for a battery build and after seeing this chats fire works video.
Posts seem decent enough, and stand off from post end/ lug to fixing screws is 10mm and as above have cover caps.
Belt and braces, I cut 4no. 1mm insulation board to go over posts on both sides to insulate fixing screws.
Nice and easy fix if anyone wants to ensure no fire works to fixing screws.

I just used my hot glue gun.
And of course, have lug the right way

No, what if an ac line shorted to it and you touched it and a ground. Or if you do have one line touching it and in 6 months brush against it and get a shock and burns...

Grounding all equipment cases is standard practice for safety, that way you can never touch two cases and have a difference of potential that completes the circuit through you.

If the copper lug is the main cable to the inverter wouldn't you want that on the bottom?
Yeah I just slapped them together without consideration, in this case this pair of 50Ah goes to a power in, and there's three other 100Ah equivalent batteries also connected so currents are very low, generally 25-50A.

Anyone putting lugs on this way needs to check for clearance to metal, allowing for lug movement.View attachment 274183

Nice pictures - thank you.

You are right, but it should not matter which direction the lug is attached for a consumer device.

When used on an insulated case, I could see using that setup, but on a metal case, the design is just wrong for 48 volt use.

Companies are not properly designing for 48 volt use, thinking that they are still playing with 12 or 24 volt.
