Why so much?
What the hell are you powering?

My Lord.....
Fully off grid, full electric house and shop, 2 ev's, and I mine bitcoin (that also heats my shop) with excess solar. I live up in Wisconsin, lots of grey dark cold days in the winter. My system can make over 400kwh in a day and it also can be as low as 12kwh.

I would think 30-40Kwh is the typical battery bank size an average home in middle American would need.
If it's Off Grid then the further North you go is the more batteries you will need.
Using that average I would say @upnorthandpersonal house in Finland would probably need 100Kwh if he wants a safety margin.

I have a lot of batteries not cycling but what I'm using daily is 210kWh:

I thought for sure you'd be in the 500kwh range😅

I think that's a pretty decent estimation. The problem I'm having up north is the sheer amount of panels needed to keep them babies charged up during winter months

Yes I can imagine the problem.
How bad is it during the Winter months? I suspect there are whole weeks when production is near zero.

Pretty sure he has some perpetual darkness going on as well at certain points.

I currently only have a 2.2kw array put up, but honestly I've only been been able to keep my fridge circuit active, all other loads I've moved to the grid, my batteries have been pretty sad averaging about 25% daily (2.5kwh)

65 KWH battery storage. for off grid use only. Seems not to have to be concerned at all in less there is no sun for 3 complete days. Have never used grid to charge them. Usually, if my batteries get down to 30% I just cut the power go back to grid and wait till the sun comes back out to charge Them, then I switch back over to off grid full time 24 hr's a day. That way I have some back up just in case I need it.

Well shucks, what else would ya say… ? it’s the proper term for the collective group a person is addressing……
Save only for the Jersey "you's guys" minority, I agree "y'all" is indeed the proper grammatical form. Unless you want to be more inclusive and say "all'y'all", just sayin'

Except for Will. He enunciates every syllable with perfection. Very regional, very respectable. Not my skillet of cornbread, but #respect ..

That's about where I'm at during the summer, except now only powering my fridge during the winter. Sounds like I do need more capacity

P.s I was just trying to be polite by adressing everyone together as "y'all"
I am aware that there our members consists of ladies, gents, and pikachus

Does @upnorthandpersonal need a 1MW catagory yet ? (soon?) LOL

Not yet, but the plans are taking shape. I just lack time... and I have to get this 400V LFP/NaI pack ready for the data center first.

Yep - I'm happy to have installed the upgrade a week ago or so I have 100kWh now. The key to doing this in Finland is to have a house designed to use as little electricity in winter as possible. I'm using 5kWh per day on average without sacrificing any comfort, so I have around 20 days of autonomy. I can get away with running the diesel generator once a month.

I have three months where solar generates pretty much nothing. Right now is the worst since we're around winter solstice. The sun officially 'rises' at 10:00AM and sets at 2:50PM - in reality this means the sun skims the horizon for a bit, and you might see it if you're in an open field without trees blocking your view for an about an hour if it's not cloudy and snowing. Couple of days ago was my best generation for the month: 600Wh that day from a 15kW array.

I need to stop looking at this thread....

Currently 53.5KWh in service, ~5 days with 0 sun if I mange loads.
14.5 KW of PV, 1 MPPT yet to be filled.
20 KW AC output through parallel AIOs.

My initial goal was 1,000Ah, that was easy enough, currently it's 100KWh; who knows after that.

What is the capacity of the 400V pack?

I use about that too, ...just to cover the idle current LOL ! yeah I know.
Last two days were very good for solar in Dec - 30kWh collected yesterday - but the next two days look like el-crappo again.

November is my worst month (overcast cloudy), so even though the days are shorter now, I feel like I'm over the worst of it.
By second week of January with reflection off the snow and cold clear skies, I am back to being on the positive side again.

Believe me, its very common in the southern states including Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas, Carolinas, even parts of Florida near Alabama.
I guess it depends who you consider an ordinary person. :)
It’s a really big country, there are many many interesting local dialects and word phrases out there.
Met a gal from Georgia in our travels last fall, she made fun on how I say roof.

I say it just like it is supposed to be. :ROFLMAO:
