TLDR,

Battery at 79% but inverter won't charge or discharge. No help from Anker. Can it be fixed? Any other good uses, maybe harvest part somehow?

Background

I got an Anker Solix C1000 as a gift and unfortunately the gifter passed away shortly after. I didn’t really use it but it seemed fine. Then I went to use it recently and found that the inverter would not work at all and it would not charge either. DC will output so I can charge from USB but nothing else and when the battery eventually dies, currently 79%, it will be useless.

I went to Anker’s website and filled out the support form telling them the problem and that I don’t have a receipt since it was a gift. They had me send them logs and videos etc. and strung me along for a week and half. They said the unit does need to be replaced and they will send me a new one once I give them the invoice number which I don’t have. I explained my situation and they basically told me no invoice, no support.

This is despite the fact they claim it has a 5 year warranty and they have only been selling these for a little over a year making it clearly within the warranty period.

With that said, I now have a 28lb Boat Anker. 😉 I assume the battery is still good and it is just the inverter section that is garbage. The display still lights up and provides information and I can connect to it via the app. I did try to charge via the XT60 connected to my 12.8v 100AH and it went up to 120watts for a few seconds and then quit, never to accept charge again.

Now the point where I ask the community for advice. What can I do with this thing. Perhaps dismantle it and extract the cells? Is it possible to get parts for it and repair it? Anyone have another idea? I would like to get some sort of use out of this thing. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
