What type of tape to use? lifepo4 battery pack

I'm building some 12v battery packs using eve lifepo4 280ah battery cells. What type of tape should I use to secure them together? They will be going in a van. Thanks!

Tape is the last thing i would consider in a van build.

Research thick insulators between cells, plan on bolts through heavy end plates, to keep tension on the cells even, plan to use springs, and plan for the structure to be mounted securely for vibration.
These cells are NOT durable.
Serious consideration should be followed in a mobile environment.

I would lookup shock mounts for the final weight and use them to isolate the batteries from the van chassis.

Shock mounts are used in all Navy aircraft to help keep the equipment from breaking into pieces in the controlled crash otherwise known as landing on an aircraft carrier.

I assuming they are also used on other aircraft. They are rated by weight and for distance of travel. There are also different ones for up, down, and sideways.

These are going to be wedged between eva foam in a milk crate. The milk crate itself is going to be mounted with a foam board under it also to absorb bounces. Just need some type of tape to hold the cell together and keep them from shifting. Once in the crate the cells will also be strapped to the crate with heavy duty velcro straps.

Maybe I need to rephrase my question. What type of tape should be used to secure lifepo4 eve 280ah cells together?

You need to use rigid plates at the ends just slightly larger than the cell size, threaded rods at the corners and middle on the sides to maintain compression.

Let me be clear.
Under no circumstances should tape be used to tie cells together in a van build.

You will have a failure of the cells in short order.

You might burn down your RV...

PLEASE CONSIDER DIFFERENT CELLS.

or at least read up on properly seperating the cells and properly bonding them together.

Read up in the learn from mistakes forum...

I agree with everything already suggested but if you insist on doing things incorrectly, and hopefully not ending up in smoke or worse, wide kapton tape is what I would consider.

I never mentioned how I am insulating the cells or how I am compressing them. Now did I? The tape is to make it easier to place and remove the battery pack into the compression mechanism and milk crate. Dang, I really thought it was a simple question and assumed I did not need to post detailed plans of my battery build.

Curious what you recommend using as rigid plates? Especially thin ones.

Fiber packing tape when I can find it in stores, otherwise I just use regular packing tape to hold everything together while I'm moving things around on the table. There's no reason I can see to remove it once it's in the housing either.

IF you had explained what you were doing, it would have been a simple answer.

No reason to get fiesty, we are here trying to keep you out of the mistakes forum.

In my builds, i have used kapton wide tape, i have used rolls of fish tape, it all depends on what im doing with the packs.
I can see the benefit in using fiber reinforced tape as well.
As heavy as these cells are, im not sure tape would be needed.

The compression frame and structure should be just fine.

You have to realize we've seen people use nothing but tape to hold things together which have repeatedly resulted in disaster. So yeah. If you don't provide those other details, we are going to assume you're doing the same thing and feel very strongly about that.
