What was your most interesting recent non solar project?

Due to altered family attendance, we skipped T-day festivities today and will go full throttle tomorrow. That's why my sorry ass was here most of the day.

Bacon Explosion (bacon wrapped sausage wrapped bacon): This may not qualify as a project, but it is done with a passion and a thankfulness for taste buds and statins. The following is truly worth watching if you need/want/like joy in your life:

Cursing outside of Chit Chat is frowned upon, but this warrants it... it's fucking delicious.

It will be smoked ABOVE the turkey such that it's yooses drip onto the bird. Recycling is good.

ONCE per year.

Runtal radiator system for a wood shop, it was fun getting the boiler and radiators mounted 14’ off the floor. Boiler over 200lbs and the 6’ radiators are over 150lbs.

That looks similar to my Navien NPE-A2 tankless water heater. It can be used as a space heater, too.

Those radiators are beasts!

Well, i only got through 10 pies, BUT i got a call from thw french bakery i work in, and he asked me to get my choice of baked pies because thanksgiving wont sell em all.
So...
I asked for an apple, a pecan, and a pumpkin. He said id have em sitting out for me, just stop by and grab em, and any pies left in the store i was supposed to take to my party.

I got two apple, two pecan, three pumpkin, two pumpkin cheesecake, and a few gluten free, and vegan gluten free for the party...

I had so many pies at the party.
Everybody got to take their pic home.
My mom snagged one of each.

Slice 'em up, and package them for the freezer in pairs.

Still waiting for the bird to hit peak temp, but I've sampled about 1/2" from each end. I saw Jeebus.
That bacon wrapped, bacon stuffed sausage does look awesome. Funny I haven't seen that here in Louisiana. The talk this year was Sweet Potato Pie with Boudin sprinkled on top of it. You have to have a cast iron stomach to live around here.

Truth.

Lafayette nearly killed me in 2000. My gallbladder tried to leave my body, and I've been hanging on to it by a thread ever since.

Installed a park grill at our campsite. Part of our off grid cabin.

That's a lot of weight just sitting on those post bolts. I hate to be a critical butthole, but you should of notched that beam into the post. Maybe you could add some notched support blocks under that beam. Over time that 2x12 will split where the bolts are.

My wife would be very jealous of that stand mixer. Problem is that she'd use it maybe a half-dozen times a year, then we'd have to store it for the other 359 days.
Its just a 5 quart. I had a 6qt, but donated it to the bakery. They will put it to USE i make pies about 4 times a year and wanted a mixer i didnt have to hold.
It is great, but, yeah, it sits unused most of the year.

Maybe - depends on what loads that roof area will ever see.
I had a cold storage shed that came with the property - 2x4's spaning 15 feet on 20-inch centres (who builds with 20" centres??) that roof was built in 1981. I saw 4 feet of snow on it a few times.
Up-dated it this year to 2x10's sistered to the original 2x4's - so I could store some stuff under that roof and still sleep at night, LOL.
Wood can be surprising stuff.

I'm looking at all those 2x10s on top of that single 2x12 beam with just 2 bolts / each post, so 6 bolts supporting all that timber and metal roof. There's your load for you. Kind of what I did for 40+ yrs
