What was your most interesting recent non solar project?

Honestly, I've not heard that term before. I only know of flash rust when wet blasing CS. I've been out of the auto game for 23 years, just do my own shit now. That said, I do have a coating specialist at my engineering firm and I can ask him about the flash corrosion of aluminum.
so youa re in the same boat as me basically... trying to keep up on stuff we no longer do. :ROFLMAO: these days the only vehicles I paint are my own. I am a cheap bastard.

This sucker is sturdy. I'm going to get a couple 150lb struts to help lift the top.

I have received my vaccine administration system. I'm waiting on my refrigerated vaccines against marek's disease.

The vaccine comes in vials of 1000 doses that need to be kept at 2-8c. I have set up refrigeration to accomidate that. Once the vaccine is rehydrated, it's viable for 1 hour. Anything left over must be destroyed. Chicks must be vaccinated within 24 hours of hatching, which gives a very limited window.

For that reason, i've decided to hatch as many eggs as I can fit in my incubator. Non-viable eggs after 7 days will be discarded, so I'm hoping for a full batch of 30 if i start with 40.

It's that time of year again. Got everyone running around looking sleek, and all the wool straight on the compost pile.
Now there's just hundreds of other people's to do around here...

Damn Jay, and here I thought livestock vaccines were touchy about handling.

What's the reason to vaccinate them? Is it a requirement to sell them or something?

Well from what I read it can kill the chickens if they catch it which I imagine is a good enough reason in itself.

The other reason is that the disease is transmitted by the dander from the birds. So once even one gets it the coop itself is covered in dander from it thus infecting all birds inside the coop for up to a year. Not a good thing.

Even after it kills all your birds, it can live in the ground for 3-5 years re-infecting a whole new flock.

Wow.. I have had chickens for 7 years now, hatching our own and never had anything like that..

Don't look at me on that stuff. I was just passing what I read up on the net about it after he posted that picture of that scary looking needle !

I hatez needles :)
All good... just never heard of it before.. Guess my chickens have that free range power haha..

Ive started a thread about food & drink after some of the mouthwatering posts on this thread.

Has wool value really fallen that far? What's the point of sheeping anymore?
