Where to Source Cells w/ Tariffs now

When I am making a build / buy decision, unless it is something that is really a hobby, I try to apply a $5 or $10 / hr labor fee to it, just to make sure that I am not doing something completely silly. If it is a hobby, then of course it doesn't matter.
Building a battery doesn't take over 90 mins so add $15 to the cost...

Currently they have Envision 280Ah that are new old stock. They had EVE a while back. If you are nearby it's worth contacting them for a pickup price...
Our corporate office is in Atlanta... I may just see if they can get close to price matching and then that way next time Im in Atlanta seeing a customer boom pickup 64 cells.

Well I must of lost something in translation... but still good to hear at least they will be stocking
I may have misinterpreted her message. There was a message from Amy (Docan) somewhere they possibly weren't restocking after the next container.

Hopefully it all blows over and they keep cells stocked in the US for the long term.

I’m
I messaged Jenny after reading your post, while I typed my post....

i wonder if they are preparing a new container with the hopes by the time it lands things have settled down and they don’t habit to crank prices up.

They ship directly to Houston port right? So that takes a bit longer (60days?) than directly to Long Beach Cali. (30 days).

It’ll be interesting to see the port activity and how much it plummets or if even ships are waiting off the shores for things to blow over.

Sea freight is a mess currently. At work we bring in a raw material from India, we'll be air freighting ($$$$$$) in material if things don't get going in the next couple weeks.

It is becoming challenging to gain a large saving in DIY from cells vs buying completely built batteries.
Harry, I've gotten 16 MB31 from 18650 for my Transit Van for $77 each, or 16kwh for $1,200 . From LiTime I could get 2 X 24V 280Ah for $3098, or %90 of the capacity for 60% more money. Dollars per watt hour, my all-in cost on DIY is .10, while Li Time is $.23, and that's 1/2 of the price (including bms, parts, wire, etc). It'd be even better if I had sourced directly from China.

While building a van, time and schedule is a top concern, but I'm doing this while waiting for the van delivery.

Damn, when did you get that price? They're at $132 now. I've been buying prebuilts at $82/kWh just to have some cells.

Yikes! I see it's $135.00 now. I think I must have just gotten in before they raised prices. They were listed for $80, and discounted to $77 with bulk.

And that’s before they add shipping.

Least docan ships free from Houston.

Looks like docan only has 230ah cells left . . .

Ezeal is another option, they ship from docans warehouse.

The 25% LFP tariff started last year, btw.
Thought that was for EV packs. Either way prices landed to your door 2 months ago was the lowest I’ve see.

My 8s mb31 order might ship next week or so (paid DDP) it’ll be interesting what happens in the next couple weeks.

I know that certain people are trying to show that the Tariffs aren't really "Trump" tariffs, and for Energy Storage, that is somewhat true.... But I'll just let this stand on its own:

Squid??? Oh my, how will I survive not chewing on expensive, rubbery, calamari?

I got this from Daisy last night...

"For tax questions, the DDP price follow the US tax low. Our US stock run fast and then products price will be updated promptly.
our next batch container will going to arrival to Houston in around 40days later. and I will share you new price and catalogue later when it coming."

On a mobile / van type use, when you go to sell it, most buyers will not put any value at all on a DIY battery pack.

I can't say how resale works in the van market but when I sold my toy hauler trailer last fall I got asking price and the guy was excited to see a turnkey solution already in place. The use of Victron components probably had something to do with it but the batteries were DIY.
