I'm trying to build a DIY Battery Bank (50,000mah). I see that there are a lot of battery cells coming from China, but are they really trustworthy? If so, which ones have you tried and would recommend? If not, which brands and where should we order them? Also, who seems to have the best prices for the best quality?

Way cheaper to just buy a 50Ah battery of amazon, also you want LifeP04, not Lithium Ion bombs

I'd prefer to build my own from scratch. Plus I heard that it's cheaper when you get your own case & find good deals on cells. Which 50ah battery are you referring to on amazon?

Here is one for 29 dollars for 40Ah, or 22 dollars ( with 40% off coupon ) for 50 Ah from the first hits on Amazon
Although this is new to me for a FIY, I believe that the DIY gives you the capability to upgrade the battery cell strengths over time. I could actually far exceed 50,000mah with the DIY case. It just depends on the cells you use. This is why I prefer to build my own custom bank. I'd just need a good connection with cells & I'd actually save a lot on the overall bank.

This gentleman reviews a number of Chinese brands and compares them with some Korean-made options, etc. If he is correct, the Chinese brands fail to perform up to their rated capacity by a lot (such as only putting out 13% of the rated capacity).

I notice he does not review EVE cells. I would like to know how well they do, and whether any 18650 cell can reasonably be expected to exceed 2500mAh.

If you want cheap 18650, buy up old laptop batteries buy the pallet, disassemble, test each cell capacity. Sort them buy size, then build a pack.

Downside I see for 18650 is needing the spot welder for terminal connections.

Every trade has its tools. In this case, I'm needing the 18650 batteries to repair the battery packs on my Ryobi tools. So I'm fixing to buy a spot welder, battery charger, and special hollow torx screwdriver bits (because Ryobi didn't want me to fix the tool I bought from them)--need tools to fix tools. Then I will use the Ryobi drills to put metal roofing on the new roof designed to accommodate solar panels. So while these batteries are not part of my solar setup, they are important to it.

Perhaps I should add: Ryobi is a high-quality product that is not available in Thailand. I imported these, and cannot simply go down to the local hardware to buy genuine replacement parts. I have yet to discover if Ryobi has engineered some form of a "fuse" in its battery pack circuitry that will disable the circuit board if it detects tampering with the batteries. I'm hoping the circuit is not so sophisticated as that.
