Why are Voltmeters dead?

I have a Fluke 77 as well. Bought it new way back. Original leads. Great old standby.
Look close, mine still has original leads too. Try that with a Chinese DVM. Had to replace the leads on one cheapie, but the cat named chewy for a reason found it.

I'm not doing it wrong, I just don't have a need for those other functions. Ever. Maybe measuring amps, but the multimeters I looked at have low amp capabilities and I haven't had a need for that.

Hard to imagine you posting on a DIY solar forum and never needing additional multimeter functions.

The $5 harbor frieght multimeter is what I actually bought but I returned it because it doesn't reflect tenths of a volt, only whole numbers. To me, 12.9V and 12.1V are massively different on an AGM starter battery for example. They have another multimeter but I wanted to research more so I didn't get it.

Huh? It's manual. You have to select the 20VDC option. You'll get XX.X resolution and even X.XX resolution for < 10V. If you select the 200 or 250V setting, yes, you'll only get whole numbers.

I read the manual and followed the instructions so if it displays decimal then I guess that means I made a mistake. Posting on a forum doesn't guarantee someone needs additional multimeter functions aside from voltage.

I just got this off aliexpress... ZOYI ZT-703S -- paid $80 USD - - seems like a very solid little meter with 3 decimal places accuracy -- does everything but clamp meter for amperage

Yes, it is way way more than a basic volt meter, but it is cool....

I have a few of these strategically placed around my place. Cheap, reliable and I'm not going to get upset if something happens to one of them unlike my fluke meters :)

The coolest "feature" is the backlight. The screen is super easy on your eyes even at a distance and when the backlight is turned on its a game changer. Great little meter.

Now you're just showing off 😉

I admit it, I have had a fascination withscope meters ever since I calibrated my first one in the Navy back 35 years or so ago... it was a 2 channel fluke that I think was 20MHz
