Why every time you Get Panels Installed? Pictures

For the same reason after building my golf cart power station we have not seen a major hurricane.
I got to find someone here to let me put a panel on the their cart… that looks like a fun project…

Those pictures inspire me to build a shed literally with solar panels for roof and walls.
Nice, can’t wait to see it.. here are a few more details if your interested

You need to put something on that raw wood, especially that floor sticking out. Here in La. that would rot in a couple years. ☹️
You might be able to put a sheet metal flashing over the wood and under the shed walls. Does the water go in the shed when it rained.

To make you second guess your investment and life choices....As soon as you put them up you get rain and lots of consecutive cloudy days with poor production. Murphy's Law at it's best.

Yeah 50 yards from the ocean, I will use some deck treatment on it, but it will only last a few years anyhow around here. No water inside, there is a bead of clear bathroom waterproof caulk under that seal were the shed meets the wood.

Yep .. was getting 15kwh a day …then I connected this and yesterday was rain and cloudy.. got 5kwh with it added to the totals… yuk.. here is hoping for today .. and PV wire is coming today, so I can get them last two panels on the back of shed wired up also..

It is a well understood scientific principle that installing new solar equipment causes bad weather.

You have a link to your build? Have a similar idea Thanks
Sorry no link. I used PVC pipe and swivel couplings to allow raising the panels. However this make the panels squeak so I currently have removed to remount as fixed. Here are a couple of pics to illustrate the mounting. I only bolted through the glued joints where there was maximum strength. I also edge-bolted the panels for rigidity..

why is it every time you get new solar panels installed it rains? Every time you I charge the battery from grid I get that years record performance day that follow?

Anyway here are the new shed panels … and them in the rain at Solar noon the next day ….

And then at Solar noon today …

how are you wiring those panels with different orientattions and directions like that Matt ?

Haha the solar panels are cheaper than wood in my area. If we can close the gap between two panels to create a weatherproof, it will be ideal to build a Shed with solar wall.

It would require backside fastening but that shed be doable. Make a slight overhang on roof panels, just enough to get the bottom edge past the wall panels for proper drippage.
200SF unpermitted structure limit = whole buncha panels!
It would be a fun game to take a pallet and figure out the right layout.

I dabble in amateur astrophotography and this is the same principle as the fact that any purchase of a new telescope or camera will result in one week of cloudy skies.

My best Jupiter and Saturn:

My first 5 days I struggled to break 5kwh. This week we've been at 30kwh/day off-grid.

Has anyone come up with a no leaking way to use Panels on the roof?
If so I would be super interested
Yes, use RV self leveling lap sealant …

Edit: after rereading thread, I miss understood the question and no .. I was thinking attaching them to shed roof.. not using them in place of roof..

I have 10 panels they are ran 2S5P this allows each side To contribute best they can ..

Here is a chart showing a good day of sun how they rays come in…

IMG_4861.jpeg

You can see around 10:30 when main roof panels get direct sun from over building next door, as the middle of day comes and goes you see the lack of production from sides, then again when sun starts to go back down you see the right side panels provide a boost around 3pm .. not sure how the panels on the back will do as the summer comes in, but they will probably do better in the winder cause they sun will be way more south, but the top panels will do better in that case also ..
