Why such puny active charge balancers?

Do the smaller passive balancers work ok? I have to wonder if a few hundred ma of balance current is enough to do the job.

My JK with 2A bal works very well. The others about half of the time, even on the better quality cells. 0.015A does not do much.

My 32 kWh pack stays balanced with 400mA of passive balancing. It's not even activating much.

A pack with good cells should stay in balance without a balancer if any sort. But, life isn't perfect, a small amount of balancing is recommended.

I don't know exactly what it is other than a commercial application. I think active deign will be needed.
