Why would anyone in the UK bother building their own battery banks anymore??

On Amazon UK now, you can buy a ECO-WORTHY 12V 280Ah LiFePO4 Lithium Battery for £500 now and have it delivered in days.

I can't see why anyone (in the UK or Ireland at least) would bother with the hassle now.

Can anyone give me a good reason not to buy straight from Amazon??

If I was in UK I'd prob go with fogstar, then you know what cells are being used.

You are def comparing apples to rotten apples

If I was in UK I'd prob go with fogstar, then you know what cells are being used.

I looked at Fogstar - but again - these are ready to go, with a 3 year warranty, most reviews are good, only issues I've found are the BMSs they use could be better.

Fogstar do cells on their own, have built two DIY 15kw ones from them recently.

The listed shipping prices on Alibaba are goofy. I recent bought 18 cells (280Ah), a 16s battery box and BMS. The shipping price (DDL) was $321 (USD). That was 10 boxes. To get the real shipping price you need to engage Amy Wan in a conversation.

That said, the prices of off-the-shelf batteries are coming down and that's great, if you can trust the cells. I build my own batteries because the total cost is lower, the size is smaller and I know exactly what goes into my battery. The batteries in my RV see freezing temperatures while I'm using the RV. I need my batteries to stay warm so that as soon as the sun is up they can take a charge. Most off-the-shelf LiFePO4 batteries cannot make that claim.

Thanks for your reply HRTKD. I will do, but because I would be having them shipped to Ireland, I've a feeling that it won't be much less.
People are being quick to dismiss these as being lesser cells etc without providing any evidence. Plenty have opened these to find that they are Eve grade A cells. I've been researching for a long time, and am ready to buy now, but from china you've absolutely no guarantees, at least if you are buying from the UK or Ireland you have some security. Also, as I've raised with Gobel (and Alibaba), they give a far worse rate if you are buying in Euros or £s than in $'s. These batteries were £799 around a year ago, they are generally £500 now, and sometimes slightly less, you have consumer rights if there's any issues, nothing (apart from CC chargeback) if you purchase directly from China.
Fogstar had some batteries I was interested in, but they are sold out and it doesn't look like they restock the same ones once they are gone.
I was never considering buying off-the-shelf, but the drastic drop in prices is making me reconsider.

And of 500% better quality, same goes for the lyuan cells.

Again you are comparing apples to rotten apples
The only thing better in the Fogstars is the BMS and its got Bluetooth. The Chinese supplies work out more expensive once you take in a BMS, cables etc - and they are all Eve Grade A cells - so not 500% better quality - unless you've evidence of otherwise?

Exo-worthy uses the cheapest unmatched and possibly b grade cells they can find and build quality is iffy, and support even more so

Which is fine if one is aware, but this is no comparison

You are comparing to certified automotive grade cells, proper build quality, and fully guaranteed builds/cells..

You are comparing rotten apples to apples, of course the rotten apples will win purely on pricing
