I have

Newpowa 120W 24V Monocrystalline Solar Panel Designed for 24V Charge System Off Grid

Renogy 10ft 12AWG Adaptor Kit Solar Cable PV with Female and Male Connectors, Connect Solar Panel and Charge Controller,1 Pair

Solar Charge Controller 10A 12V/24V Solar Panel Charge Controller with USB Port LCD Display,Compatible with Sealed, Gel, and Flooded Batteries

Qty 2 wired in series-

ML35-12 - 12 Volt 35 AH SLA Battery

My main questions are around the charge controller and the wiring. The panel has 14AWG and I’m connecting that to 12AWG wire. Will that have any major negative impact? Do I need to look into a different charge controller?

Short answer , No. Typically, the more copper you have ( smaller gauge number=larger wire) the better. So the longer piece of 12 AWG from the panel to the controller will minimize the voltage drop / power loss. The 12 AWg wire is bigger than the 14 AWG. No effect on the charge controller.
The goal is to get as much of the generated power form the panel to the controller and your configuration should be fine.
