hi all ne to the forum i live off grid in valencia spain i have a 48volt 9kw system with 2 strings of 9 panels and 24 x2 volt 525 ah batterys ,winter is just starting so we are now running our how on batterys for approx 16 hours per day i am thinking of adding a wind turbine to the system as we do get a lot of wind here. i am unsure if my way of thinking is correct regarding installing the turbine .i am looking at buying a 48 volt turbine with its own inverter and brake am i correct in saying once turbine it connected to inverter do i just correct directly to my batterys my warry was having to different charging point or is this not a problem because of the own inverters with built in bms i hope i have explained this correctly if anyone out there can advise me i would be greatful thanks rob

Multiple charging sources are fine. As long as the total doesn't exceed the battery manufacturers recommendations.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

The ultimate answer to your question is don’t install a wind turbine.

There are several threads here detailing people‘s attempt to harvest wind for power. They all end in sadness. My very basic understanding is that wind turbines don’t make much sense at the small (non utility) scale. They are a poor, fragile, and expensive substitute for additional panels and almost all circumstances.

panels i have 18 x500 watts day time is not the problem its when cloudy days and we start using batterys early in the day

I would take Bluedog225's advice and forget wind, batteries are getting cheaper almost by the day. Just add more batteries and panels if needed. Depending on brand, 314-320 cells are 50 to 70usd each now, DIY battery boxes are easy to assemble now. So a 320ah 48v box is now as low as 1200usd + shipping. 10 to 15 years of no maintenance.
