Do you do anything to prep for winter?

I imagine most do nothing. I live in the Florida Keys, so that's about the time I take the hurricane shutters off them. ?

Someone like @upnorthandpersonal probably won't see the sun for six months, so perhaps he just puts up markers so folks won't park snow cats on top of them.

Semi-serious thoughts:
  • Equalize the batteries on Halloween and make the pumpkins glow
  • Apply a hydrophillic or hydrophobic coating?
  • Check the InstaPot still works so you can cook with less energy?
  • Check the soft snow brush is GTG
  • Crank the tilt up
  • Check for lose bolts/screws
  • Put some baking soda on your terminals
  • Reverse your ceiling fans
  • Spray dry lube in connectors
Is this the @SolarQueen's first experience with Solar & Winter Prep?

:) Actually, since the panels are mounted almost vertical at this latitude (esp. in winter), we'd need quite a bit of snow to cover them all.

GADZOOKS That image ! See that happening after a nice light 30cm snowfall, hahaha. Bristles will never see my panels, I use a Garrant Foam Snow Scraper which is 11' long and really good on the panels. no scratches or anything. Winter prep is actually pretty minimal for me and don't have to start worrying about it till mid October.

Drivers in the keys are very responsible, never seen a car here not brushed clean of snow.

I'm pretty sure that guy's name is Lucky.

There was one winter where the snow was so deep I had to shovel
the roof.

Wife was worried as there'd already been news reports of roofs caving
in, folks having heart attacks (and EMS not being to get anywhere),
and people falling off roofs. Wasn't a problem for me, didn't even
need a ladder as the snow line went up to the roof and I could just
walk up. Took me a lot longer then the guy above and I was glad
it had been cold before it snowed (no ice underneath).

I'm from Florida originally, so me in snow is sort of like the image to
the right.

I need a treadmill for the cold weather.
Wonder what the seasonal demand bump is going to be like this year.

I refuse to use the W word in August. I did make a video that took months to make because I measured the same solar panel in 90F and then at about 20F to see the voltage rise. I looked like the Pillbury Dough Boy trying to fit my logo sweater over all my layers.

The oil in my snow blower was already changed, so I'm ready for winter. I also replaced the fuel line and fuel filter.

I won't winterize the RV trailer until November.
