Wiring a battery bank 8 100ah Gell batteries

There seems to be a few ways to wire this bank. Any idea on "The Best Way"?
I understand DC travels on each strand of wire So what about bus bars? Wouldn't cable be better?

the path to each battery should have the same distance between positive and negative cables:

As you can see, the cabling distances between the two batteries are dramatically different. The shorter the cables, the more current they will charge/discharge vs. the longer cabled batteries.

The issue is that it gets more complicated as you add more batteries even with the Busbars option as the busbars have to be massive relative to the interconnects.

Once complete, use a clamp ammeter to check the current through each battery under a heavy load.
