I am trying to find find out the recommended way to install the Square D SDSA1175 surge arrestor, that is called for in the PDP manual, into the XW Pro PDP. This is for use with two XW Pro inverters and two 100/600 MPPT charge controllers, completely off grid solar. No detailed information about the wiring is given in the manuals for any of theses units.

Usually the surge suppressor is mounted in the switch gear/breaker panel. Assuming your PDP is feeding a normal split phase breaker panel you can mount the surge suppressor in one of the KO's and add a 2 pole breaker. Per the wiring diagram for a 240V, 3 wire device, Black wires to the breaker and white wire to the neutral bus.

Thanks, I read those directions, but still not clear how this would work in the XW PDP that has two 60 A, 120/240 VAC, two-pole breakers, one for inverter 1 out and one for inverter 2 out with a jumper between them on the load side.

It doesn't have to be mounted in the PDP. The surge protector is for your appliances and electronics not the PDP. Mount it in the breaker panel or other junction box that connects to the loads you wish to protect.
Yes, makes sense. I was trying to follow the (incomplete) directions in the PDP manual. Thanks

If you’re trying to protect the inverters and the downstream devices, the surge protector connects to the grid-in lugs in the PDP.
