Would you connect the (-) 12 V of a solar system to the ground or the Neutral?

When building an off-grid solar system, which can be used as backup for your home,:

- Would you connect the (-) 12 V of the battery to the ground or to the neutral, or keep it floating?

- Also would you connect the (-) wire of the solar panels to the ground or the neutral, or keep it floating?

I am assuming that the output of the inverter is floating (no neutral pin)
and the ground output pin of the inverter is connected to the chassis of the inverter.

Also the (-) 12 V input of the inverter would be not connected to the chassis of the inverter.

Never ever ever neutral.

You'll have a bad day if you do that.

If anything you can connect that to ground, but that depends on the documentation for your equipment. So read it.
