Just wanted to share this with those of you who may be interested in building your own batteries. I was going to build my batteries for my diy home solar system, but home owners insurance concerns kept me from moving forward with that.

Anyhow I looked back and I ordered this box from Alibaba on 9-7-24, and it was delivered yesterday. I wasn't expecting it until 11-7-24. The packaging was excellent in my opinion and from what I can tell the build quality does not disappoint. All in cost including delivery to Texas was $550. A little steep, buy when you consider diy vs brand name batteries, it's not even close, and you get a high quality wrapper.

That link goes to the empty no cells, BMS+display+diy case I believe.

$640 shipping out of Houston, or $440 out of China seems about the range.

That's correct, follow this link to all the 48V LFP Battery packs and battery case. The above is a screenshot of the pricing from the salesperson based my inquiry with specific specs of LFP cell type and BMS type selection. BTW, shipping cost for a completed battery works out to $299.66 DDP (all documents and US custom fees, import tax from China and final last mile liftgate delivery) from Shenzhen China to Los Angeles, California. The DDP price has increased due BS happening around the world of freight shipping. 🤐

So, The total price of one of these would be $1130 + $440 to California = $1570? Do I have it right?

Transit time from China to Los Angeles port is about 13~14 days crossing the Pacific Ocean and about 3-5 days to clear US custom, unload from container and local liftgate delivery.

It's nuts how prices have come down. One has to wonder why 51.2V 100Ah 5kWh server rack batteries are still ~$1,200 when one can get nearly 15kWh for a bit more. Is the price difference due to UL safety listings and brand markup?
 
From everything I just learned regarding cell compression, this doesn't seem to offer any of it. it's not enough that I need to resist expansion, i need to apply 1600lb of clamping force. I'm not seeing how that's going to be done with sheetmetal.

The shipping cost is bit higher for a pre-built complete battery pack, maybe raw cells + BMS is an option. And te have some Raw cells in California warehouse for choose😄
 
I purchased my 2nd Yixiang DYI Box this morning (12/6/2024). The following is my cost for box only (I did purchase wheels for this order to allow stacking and mobility:

Yixiang DIY kit unit price (Batteries not included): $389
Wheel unit price $40

Note: I wanted wheels for the bottom of battery bank stack.

Subtotal $429
Shipping fee $140
Tax 42.68
Total USD Price: $611.68

I asked them about their batteries and they offer interesting form factors (upright). Has anyone used these ESS level batteries? They aren't the giant horizontal ones but vertical actually makes more sense in my application

Just an FYI about shipment times. My battery box (and batteries) from Gobel took 2 months from time of order until it got to my location in Northern Cal. The order was placed on Oct. 25th and arrived on Dec. 26th., Much of the time was spent in transit and in customs. Some of that time was spent with the ship waiting for an opening at the Port of Long Beach. It took 12 days to clear customs. So don't think you will get it within one month of ordering. YMMV. Attached is my tracking data.

Just checked with them, shipping to Southern California costs $699.

I'm just about a month behind you on this -- I just ordered the Yixiang V2 last night after working with Miaoxin. I haven't ordered the cells from Battery Hookup yet, but I've been ordering stuff from them for over a year so I don't expect any problems.

Fingers crossed that January 20th doesn't bring any surprises with customs...

I just got this quote from Miaoxin for 2 of their DIY kit v2 and (32) EVE MB31 314Ah batteries. I specifically asked if this battery size would fit in the case and she response was "MB31 is definitely suitable". The V2 is the latest version of the DIY kit with fire extinguisher function and bidirectional DC circuit breaker

DIY kit V2 version price: 429 USD
EVE MB31 price: 59 USD

Shipping cost by sea: 711 USD
Total price: 429*2+59*32+711=3457 USD

Shipping by sea to your address, including customs duties, delivery time 28-35 days
