  • Post in thread: Too many projects, now where did I put that...

I am a lifelong mechanic and have over $100,000 dollars worth of hand tools and another couple hundred thousand in equipment in my shop. I have all ways cleaned and stored my tools after each job and still lose tools. Last week I found a stubby 3/8 inch ratchet I lost over 10 year's ago. Still...
  • Post in thread: Has anyone come across a good, low power, surround sound technique?

I just used a kill a watt to measure my stereo system and came up with this. 1-LG 86 inch tv 177 watts 2 Om8 Mirage speakers w/built in subs- Rotel cd player & Yamaha Rx a4a =129 watts. Freznel tube Amp & reel to reel tape player=190 Watts. Music Hall record player 37 watts. Really surprised at...
  • Post in thread: Midnite Solar Announced their new 10kw AIO at Intersolar Today

I would love to have one to run my shop's equipment but don't have the land for all the panels I would need. I guess I am limited to a 6 or 8 KW system. Greg
  • Post in thread: Santan Solar question: Do they charge credit card fee?

    Never charged me yet. Greg
  • Post in thread: Does anyone know the brand of panels that survived hail?

Hail doesn't all ways fall straight down. I have seen it blowing sideways in some of the storms we have had in the past. When the wind is over 70mph not much can survive the bigger stones. Greg
  • Post in thread: When is the best time to start a solar project?

Never, because once you start with this crap it is a never ending upgrade.
  • Post in thread: Waiting for things to fail.

Take up hot rodding. Racing cars will show you how long your parts will last. The upgrade path is fairly quick. Greg
  • Post in thread: Cut that high speed cable!

I was a cell phone booster installer for about 15 years here in Oklahoma for 4 national company's. If installed correctly they can really increase your speed. The best units are the Wilson brand out of Idaho or Utah. Greg
  • Post in thread: Eg4 app sucks

After spending another hour on this app this morning I gave up and uninstalled it. Looking for something that will work with understandable instructions. Thanks Greg
  • Post in thread: What will be your next purchase? Living on a budget

I just received 21 panels to go with the 10 I already have and that will be it because those are all I can fit on my property. I have 1600 AH of battery so my next purchase will be a Victron 48-5000 and a Victron 450-200. I will also get a cerbo gx so I can monitor the system. Hoping for a...
  • Post in thread: Better order more panels before price increase.

I saw on the news this morning that a hail storm in Demon Tx. last night wiped out a huge solar farm with thousands of panels destroyed. Might want to order before the price goes up as they are going to have to replace these. Greg
  • Post in thread: panel angle

I watched a video on utube last night where they are using bifocal panels mounted on a 90 degree angle and in a east to west orientation. They are claiming about a 20% increase in production. They think it is because of the cooling factor of the angle. Any thought's on this? Greg
  • Post in thread: Changing name

So far since I am still alive they must be the good one's. Greg
  • Post in thread: Battery question

Thank you. I didn't think it would make much of a difference but learning from past mistakes I have found out it is better to ask. Greg
  • Post in thread: Cut that high speed cable!

Yes, you are right. They work great for hot spot cell connections. I had a customer in Bristol Ok. who was 7 miles from the nearest tower and his down load speed was from 1 to 4 MBS so basically the internet was useless. After install, his new booster his speed increased from that to 20 to 30...
  • Post in thread: Upgrading system from EG4-3000

Thanks for the reply. I was between Midnight solar and Victron. I printed out your answer as I can now research what you recommended. Battery's are a mix as I am a beginner and bought 6 200 ah Renogy battery's when I first started and then I bought 4 100 ah Li Time's this year. Running 2...
  • Post in thread: Hydraulic Table Cart?

I have one for my shop. It is from Jegs Performance and cost $235.00 shipped. I use it to move my transmissions and engines and it seems to work fine. Greg
  • Post in thread: Some simple, money saving advice, from someone who is finishing up their DIY system.

I really don't care what someone earns. I come from from the old school that appreciates what someone's hard work and perseverance can earn them. I went to ytube and watched about all the vids on solar when I first got interested in doing something with it. I keep coming back to Wills video's...
  • Post in thread: Need some advice on inverters.

I know I will not be able to power my shop on solar alone. I was just playing with it out of curiosity when I started last year. However with my electric bill's going over $300 a month I am getting a little serious about lowering the cost some. Maybe 50 or a $100 a month and I would be...
  • Post in thread: Victron 15,000 va inverter charger

I was looking at the 2 5000 10kw system before I saw the 15k and as I am a little limited on space it seemed like a good idea to go with one box over two but It looks like I am back to a split phase 2 box configuration. Greg
  • Post in thread: Could a charge controller be draining by batteries?

Thanks for that info. I just checked and they are each using 4.11 amps at 12V for 49.32 watt's at idle. Greg
  • Post in thread: Eg4 app sucks

I am open to apps that work. Greg
  • Post in thread: Victron 15,000 va inverter charger

That is more like it. A hundred here and there adds up. Has anybody any experience using these transformers? I have never used one and since I am new to this I don't need to order some more parts that I won't know how to assembly correctly. I have done it quit a bit lately with this solar. Greg
  • Post in thread: New to Solar, have some questions.

    My first post? Greg
  • Post in thread: Could a charge controller be draining by batteries?

Ok I did not know the meter had to be a few feet from other source's. The meter was zeroed before I took the reading but I just checked right below the cc on the battery wire. Greg
  • Post in thread: panel angle

Thanks, i just watched it once and was interested because of my space limitations. If that would work I could add about another 125 panels in the form of a fence if I wanted to. Greg
  • Post in thread: Victron wi fi won't connect on victron connect.

I ordered a Victron wi fi for my 12-2000 inverter because the bluetooth range was only about 10 feet. I received the unit yesterday and installed it according to the little card that came with it. When I try to connect to Victron conect app I get nothing. All I have is the blue flashing...
  • Post in thread: Could a charge controller be draining by batteries?

With everything off and no loads I was going though the on screen display and it was showing 117 watts of use on each cc. I am fairly new to solar and may have come to the wrong conclusion but I don't see why the cc's would report 117w use with nothing running. Greg
  • Post in thread: panel angle

    Who is matt ferell?
  • Post in thread: Lipo and AGM battery's together?

I have 2 battery banks. One with 4 100 ah lipo and the other with 6 200 ah agm's. I have 2 solar CC's so have been charging them separate. I use a bus bar to connect the batterys to the inverter and was wondering if I would run into problems with both banks hooped to the same bus bar or if this...
