    New Tariffs in the States

It is supposedly supposed to make the costs for the cheap imports higher to prevent undercutting domestic production. Country A has solid labor conditions, Country B has slave labor and sells to Country A super cheap, drives out production in Country A, which long term has negative economic...

Anyone in NY see this recent law passed against DIY or non UL2271 packs for mobile vehicles?

They really need to understand not all lithium ion is the same. Yes LFP can burn too but no where near the same as NMC.

Flash Sale For USA DiySolarForum Users! – from Gobel

Well we are kinda that way BUT we want a homestead property (currently in a suburb) so limited to what we can do here. With property prices and interest rates right now it is harder to get things. So her focus is to save more for the eventual property. Otherwise we really don't need more cells...

I know it is easy. At the same time, a lot of $ and I don't think the wife would be onboard seeing as I don't have the first battery packs online yet.....

I like to crank up the one on the right. Then max out the left.

Not a complaint, but a request.

Look a shiny object! I went off topic. Now fight me and I'll distract with another shiny object. All I have to say is Victron and someone will salivate.

    Rethinking my battery box

My metal arrived. Fits perfectly where I need it. Now to get some time to cut strut and angle iron, drill holes, etc. Figure I'll dry fit the cells and brackets first, then get the rest of the layout done (shunt, breaker/fuse, wiring). I suspect I'll need to use a custom busbar to connect...

Where to place the class T fuses and busbars? Boxes, enclosures?

I'm trying to understand how a class T can be a source of fire. Has anyone that has blown a class T had it blow apart?

Class T fuse holder termination - I think I screwed up.

Well I did not buy the igniton protection ones. I just got the standard ones. Oh well, is what it is, I'm not going back and buying yet another set of fuse holders! They may be mounted outside the box from the cells, so it won't really matter (mounted directly to the outside, I guess). We'll...

    House burned down

This is one (of a few) reasons I like the chat online option vs a phone call. Their accent can be as bad as possible, but as long as they type it OK, I can understand it! (Also nice not having to sit on hold with a phone in my ear for an hour, listen to elevator music, if there's an address or...

Not a complaint, but a request.

An idea - not sure if it could at all be implemented or not, but hey... Build threads go in a specific subforum. In there, the thread creators can flag posts they make within their thread as "primary" or "build related" or whatever you want to call it. At the top of said thread, there is a...

    Predator or Champion?

I bought "water" spouts for my gas cans. I need some more for my other two cans that I thought had a decent spouts but now they leak all over too. Ironic how these stupid new spouts keep having the opposite effect of what they were supposed to prevent

    Heat Pump water Heaters

I just have a hard time spending 3x as much for something much more complicated, that has no guarantee of lasting any longer than the very simple tank.

    Battery Refactor

Just a handful of zipties could make it better. Those balancer wires are like spaghetti. Find a way to mount the balancer so it isn't just hanging out. Other than that, it doesn't look that bad to me. You could stick the batteries on a set of shelves in the rack, I guess, if you want.

    Heat Pump water Heaters

If the current regime has their way, you'll be forced to buy one if your tank fails and you need a new tank, whether things are mature or not. Yes, they're coming for our water heaters now

    Predator or Champion?

I should have gone with dual fuel to begin with. I didn't. Now if I want to use propane (I do), I need to find/buy a conversion kit, which from the looks of things is going to cost me as much as getting a dual fuel from the factory already. Derp. :fp2

Dead short fuse trip experiment using an MRBF fuse

I just thought of another test (thinking of possible failure modes from that recent huge up in smoke thread) What happens if instead of an instantaneous dead short, there is a steady load applied, then create a short? Or, say a 200A rated fuse, and you load it down sustained somewhat above its...

    Luyuan battery case

Well it saves a LOT of copper wire (which is a lot of cost AND weight) if you don't have to run a positive and negative for every circuit everywhere. Apparently, the chassis of the vehicle is good enough. They design around it. Technically, the chassis is not really ground because, well, rubber...

All it says is this "The closed cell foam sheet is insulated, anti-slip, damp-proof, soundproof, buffering, corrosion-resistant, shock-absorbing, non-toxic, durable and environmentally friendly, and it be used from -50℃ to 150℃." https://a.co/d/fQ44TmJ

    New Tariffs in the States

Um, people weren't buying enough of the other stuff. The car makers were mostly building what people were buying. Conveniently, because more people wanted them, they had a higher profit margin too. Not enough people here want small EVs.

    New Tariffs in the States

So before 90 days I need to find a homestead, move to it, and buy all my solar panels for it. Or... take the panels off my roof and take them with me. Patch the holes before putting the house up for sale. Can't say I haven't thought about doing that. (21x 400W REC panels). But that's only if we...

Class T fuse holder termination - I think I screwed up.

Yeah, That's what I bought. He wasn't talking about his fuse. Class K is welding wire. There is also Class M. Has to do with how fine the strands are (M is finer and a little more flexible, I think).
  35. SparkyJJO

Class T fuse holder termination - I think I screwed up.

I have 250A Littelfuse fuses. Same ones that the Blue Sea holders use. Shouldn't be a problem. I've never seen "fine stranded" THHN. That's why so many people use welding wire, is it not? But that's not how the fuse holders I originally bought were designed to work, hence the reason for this...
