My ignorance knows no bounds, but I would like to change that. Questions regard AC coupling & existing grid tied system.

This is where my ignorance comes in. If I have an AC coupled inverter attached to batteries, why wouldn't they treat the incoming power from the solar panels the same as the power from the grid? Why would it need to know there are other inverters (HD Wave) in the system?

Home owner installable AC coupled system help.

I have given much thought to these questions. If possible, how I would like to proceed is; Maximize the KWs while minimizing initial KWHs. For example I would like to be able to provide power to my whole house for a short period of time, perhaps ~100 A @ 220 V (22KW). I would then like the...

Home owner installable AC coupled system help.

My existing system was installed by others. However, I did not feel confident penetrating my roof. I have been mucking about in electrical panels since I was ~13, and haven't killed myself yet. I would not object to paying someone to install a system for me, however, I haven't found anyone in...

Home owner installable AC coupled system help.

I have an existing SolaEdge 10 KW grid tie system, 2 5 KW HD Wave inverters. without throwing out the existing inverters, I would like to integrate batteries. It is my understanding I can do this with an AC coupled system. I believe I could implement something like a Tesla Powerwall or 4, but I...

My ignorance knows no bounds, but I would like to change that. Questions regard AC coupling & existing grid tied system.

OK, I think I understand the bit about only enough power is generated to supply the load. I do not understand how the inverters would know the difference between 240V 60HZ provided by my generator and the same provided by the grid. Unless the generator is not providing stable frequency or...

My ignorance knows no bounds, but I would like to change that. Questions regard AC coupling & existing grid tied system.

When I use my generator, I either pull the meter or throw the main circuit breaker, or both. to disconnect from the grid. I also throw the cutoff switch from my solar array, isolating the house from both the grid and the PV array. Based on what you seem to be saying, I could manually disconnect...

My ignorance knows no bounds, but I would like to change that. Questions regard AC coupling & existing grid tied system.

I have an existing dual 5KW SolarEdge based system. Two 5KW HD Wave Inverters. As far as I know, these generally do not work & play well with battery storage systems. As promised in the title I am woefully ignorant and would like to reduce this. So I have general questions first; In addition to...

How to easily, inexpensively convert grid connect to hybrid?

My system is going on 3 years old. So scrapping it is not an option. The next step would be to design an A/C coupled system. I am using 2, 5k SolarEdge HD Wave inverters. They are in my garage which is ~40 feet from the Main panel of the house. I have 200 Amp residential single phase service. I...

How to easily, inexpensively convert grid connect to hybrid?

My thought is to start with smallish batteries, and add capacity over time.

How to easily, inexpensively convert grid connect to hybrid?

I will search for A/C coupling. I was concerned about tricking the inverters into generating power with the Grid power off, as I don't know what happens if the panels are putting out 15kw and the house is only using 1kw, where does the extra power go? I live in hurricane country, but haven't...

How to easily, inexpensively convert grid connect to hybrid?

I have a ~15kw DC 10kw AC SolarEdge based system. I have 52 ~285 W panels attached to two SolarEdge 5kw HD inverters. The reason for a high DC and low AC is because utility requires insurance for systems above 10kw, but I want to maximize my peak production. So I waste some energy, but I produce...
