  • Post in thread: SB50 Connector Power - Is it really limited to 50A continuous load?

@tim0shel so that means a SB50 connector is limited for consistent power at 600 Watts for a 12V system, 1200W for a 24V system, and 2400W for a 48V system right?
  • Post in thread: SB50 Connector Power - Is it really limited to 50A continuous load?

@Bob142 Thank you for the video reference. For some reason I thought that my all-in-one growatt system would somehow unevenly charge the batteries if they weren't directly connected to the inverter. I had watched another video of Will's somewhere where he builds some batteries and it talked...
  • Post in thread: I am removing the Li-ion 48V Bigbattery.com pack from my recommendation list

@JoeHam Unfortunately its just a hair too short to actually click in with where the sb50 is screwed in at. I've attempted multiple times to push it back in and the wire is just barely not able to make it. I'm not able to get a new board but they are sending me new wires. I think before I...
  • Post in thread: 48v All In One System Design

@G00R00 Am I missing something? Wouldn't you need to combine 15 cells to get to 48V (3.2 * 15 = 48V) That 280AH seems crazy. I'm still new to all of this but doesn't that give you like a 13.4KWH battery for about ~$1200? That's about the same as the used ~3KWH 48V battery I got from...
  • Post in thread: Paralleling 2 48v 3.8kw bigbattery powerwalls

@mcmullen7242 Were you able to make the connector? I'd love to see some pictures of how you did that. I'm trying to figure it out as I've got the two powerwalls from big battery as well.
  • Post in thread: Reverse Diode Protection-Combiner Box

@KBWaldron and @gnubie Thank you, this was very helpful information as I've been trying to figure out if I need blocking diodes as I have a lot of shade (that I will slowly remove as I clear out some forest).
  • Post in thread: SB50 Connector Power - Is it really limited to 50A continuous load?

Hey everyone, fellow newbie here. I looked through the forums and didn't see answer for this question, if it has been answered if you can point it out to me that'd be great! I purchased the Growatt 48V system with the inverter sized at 3000W/6000W surge. I also have two of the big battery 48V...
  • Post in thread: SB50 Connector Power - Is it really limited to 50A continuous load?

@Bob142 Can you help me understand what the hot plugging means vs the low resistance? Under the hot plugging it says its great for batteries, which I guess is where I got confused. My plan is to have a battery disconnect (circuit breaker, or some kind of switch+fuse), between the batteries and...
  • Post in thread: 48v All In One System Design

I just bought 40 250W panels from SanTanSolar.com before I found this forum and Will's videos I was looking at home depot's ~300W panels. For the price of about 8 panels from home depot I'm getting 40 from SanTanSolar (would have been even cheaper if I was closer to AZ and could pick them up...
  • Post in thread: SB50 Connector Power - Is it really limited to 50A continuous load?

@Bob142 Thank you for answering my additional question. That was very helpful! The growatt only has one set of lugs for battery input so I'll need to connect via the bus bars route. When batteries are connected that way via bus bars, I think that means I need a separate BMS system to monitor...
  • Post in thread: SB50 Connector Power - Is it really limited to 50A continuous load?

@apctjb I do see on page five it shows a recommended wire size of 1*4AWG, it also shows a 2*8AWG which I'm not sure what the 2* means. I'm not sure why the manual is recommending a 4AWG wire. Do you have any insight into this? I saw @Will Prowse do the wiring with 6AWG for the short run he...
  • Post in thread: I am removing the Li-ion 48V Bigbattery.com pack from my recommendation list

This is sad, I guess I join with others who have had bad work from BigBattery. I jumped the gun on the NMC and didn't want to return the BigBattery batteries I bought and based on what I was reading and Will's video on the dangers of NMC chemistry, I decided I didn't want the NMC in my house so...
  • Post in thread: I am removing the Li-ion 48V Bigbattery.com pack from my recommendation list

Thank you @Hedges. I reached out to the vendor (BigBattery) and they will send me a longer wire with a new anderson connector. I guess the warranty period last summer was only 30 days but at least I'll get a longer cable. I've never resoldered a wire before, but I guess its just one more new...
