To all,
Building a new array using 10 100 watt panels with a 6 string combiner box putting five pairs of panels into five strings. Was looking at using fast (link) and (link) acting fuses for the combiner box in the event of a solar event. Would these fuses trip off quicker preventing damage to...
All right, gonna keep plugging away at this till I understand what works and I very much appreciate your patience helping me figure this out. I revised the figures in the Daily Wattage Calculation chart to reflect as closely as can what the useage will be and the number has been revised down...
Calculating the loads is somewhat difficult from a usage perspective. This install is for a hunting cabin that I use every week or so during the winter and 2-3 days every week or so during the summer. Nothing will run 24/7 and water heater/water pump will be used for showers so probably only a...
To all,
Could I please get some advice/comments on this proposed solar system design. Based on what I want to run would 2 batteries and a 3,000 watt inverter be sufficient? This is for a hunting cabin in southern Tennessee that sees intermittent use (every two weeks).
Thank You All
OK, will run through audit although will take some time to get some answers to some of the info. Thanks for assistance so far. Will revive thread when I have more info but other comments and suggestions are welcomed.
Your replies also generate another question from me, How do you maintain the best system integrity when you are only using it once or twice a month for a few days at a time?
See link #1 in my signature. Enter your items, their power and the daily hours of run time for each. - Generally run time for any of these will never be on a daily basis and have only ran the TV while at the camp for any extended time. Same for the water heater, it will be used intermittently...
4kW inverter on 12V is insanity. - So do I want to implement a 24v or 48v system based on how I intend to upgrade???
Item 4. Check the energy star rating. - Will check but info provided was from manufacturer.
Item 6. 700W microwave has near 1200W continuous run load. Microwaves are very...
Greeting and salutations. Not a newbie to this but not the best at figuring out requirements for an off-grid solar system in northern Alabama (above Birmingham). I am there a few days every other week. I’ve written below what I have and then what I think would meet my requirements but would...
Thanks so much for the all the answers. Plan a trip to cabin in a few days to check some of what you asked. Got to call it a night but will be back with some more questions.
Wire for extension cord is probably not adequate to carry load if that is what you are asking.
I have already though about new controller as well as new batteries.
What I want to run (although not at same time)
LED lights (works with current inverter)
TV (LED about 32 inches) (works with...
Thanks very much for your info/comments.
I used 2/0 cable for connecting batteries together in parallel and the inverter has two strands each of 2/0 wire running to the battery posts. Used high quality connectors and they are torqued to spec. Batteries are showing full charges and inverter...
