So this amp-l-start is interesting. I'm not sure if it's working correctly. It's keeping the battery around 12.4(at the amp-l-start) volts which seems to be the bottom of the amp-l-starts output.
Yesterday I got it to kick on to a charge cycle, but the amps were really low. It's already back...

It's not 600w,but depending on mounting options and climate, daily output could be better than most 600w arrays.
Yikes this thread is scary. I don't think using an analogy to extrapolate behavior is a good idea.
I was going to point out that in the fw update thread lots of guys are over 18a as the update gives them 22a. Maybe pop in there to see how long they have been over paneling?
I have used, bolts, studs, and welded studs, and the welded studs were by far the best.
The bolts are impossible to size correctly so they have enough depth to torque. You need as many threads in the aluminum as you can get.
Putting your own studs in, is better but you can still easily over...
I watched Ray's video this morning, and I had a few questions. I can't stand the comments on yt, so I thought I would ask them here. And to not be completely off topic, I thought I would share what I have been working on this last week(or so)
First, the question: @RayfromTX what is the UV...
I used mg chem 847 and it's doing great on one set, and it is marginal on another. I'm looking at flexible bus bars to minimize movement. I'm also checking connections regularly now. I guess it's better than watering?
Btw, even the red loctite will most likely free easily on aluminum. You...
Hmm, is the other transformer bad? Can you measure it and buy another one?
I've heard of people buying replacements by weight and size with the same configuration. That would probably be close enough?
If you bond the neutral from the transformer to ground and ground carries through all the way from the main panel, which bonds to neutral, doesn't that create a bond?
A whole bunch of assumptions, but try this.
18ah / 9 hours = 2ah/h device consumption
2ah × 8hours = 16ah to run the device while charging the battery
16ah + 18ah = 34ah total required power from solar
34ah / 8hours = 4.25ah/h
4.25ah × 12v = 51watts
51w + some efficiency overhead for...
It does make some noise, but it's mounted outside, and we don't use it too much. I found a service manual that includes some charts. It looks like it performs really bad for small loads, but for large loads does a lot better than I would have figured. I suppose this could work for a microwave...

Those are the two flavors of the month, but even at those two vendors there are a lot of options. Since it's cold...
Thanks for the prod to really clean the terminals. I just buffed the first set, but I took scotch right to the second set. It all came together well.
Im trying to figure out the end state for the connections, but I rigged it up enough to test and it works! The 6.0l powerstroke started right...
I'm trying to trace down some of the 120v side of my "camper" and there is this box that I dont know what does. I have a couple of guesses, but I'm probably wrong. Hopefully it's easy to identify for those in the know, because I'm not in the know.
