  • Post in thread: portable van house battery

I finally have some batteries for my van/portable battery box build, and I could use some help making sure Im not missing anything. Im following wills 400 watt with alternator charging plan. I dont plan on using solar right now though, I was thinking about using a 24v 30amp power supply to...
  • Post in thread: portable van house battery

I ordered the SBMS0 with wifi. I ordered a progessive dynamics 60 amp charger yesterday to. I think for now ill just plug it in at home and will pick up a dcdc mppt when Im ready for some longer trips. Ill have about 2.5kw to play with so I should be fine on weekend long trips. I wish the 3...
  • Post in thread: Small pond pump battery backup

I have not tried 12v yet, I do have an adjustable power supply I can try to see if it works. Wife wants max flow and run time so I was thinking 18v would be best. But yea definitely easier to stick to 12v. Upstate SC, so fair amount of sun usually... just not this week. Thanks for the...
  • Post in thread: DC-DC (B2B), MPPT and AC all-in-one?

Is it possible to run 110 through an mppt using a power supply with suitable voltage and amps? I was thinking a renogy dcdc mppt 50amp with a 24v 30 amp power supply to power it off of 110 when at home or use the alternator and panels when driving. Simply use something like an xt60 connector...
  • Post in thread: Q cell panels used

I found some of the Q-Cells that are local to me. It looks like a good deal but I havent started researching the solar part of the system yet just the battery side. From a post on facebook someone said these are actually closer to 12 years old and will prbbly be degraded to 250ish watts each...
  • Post in thread: Design Check

Yes small 300 gallon pond. I have not tested it, I do not have a way to measure amps yet. Yea I was considering putting it underground, still need to mount the mppt, and other stuff inside a water proof box somewhere though. Its in the lower part of my yard where most of the water runs to...
  • Post in thread: Design Check

Building a small system to run a small water pump and possibly other small loads in the future. Pump has a 10w draw at 18v. Looking at a Victron MPPT 75/10 12/24v SCC, with 2 100w panels, and battery hookups new Lifepo4 battery. Looks like it would be easy to series it later if I decide I...
  • Post in thread: Power Supply for Shore Power

I'm pretty interested in doing this. I just bought a rsp-750-15, that was recommended for my electrodacus. Is it suitable for running into an mppt? If not what should I be looking for? I was looking at the renogy dcdc mppt for my van.
  • Post in thread: Design Check

It's the rated watts from the manual. It's a small solar powered pump that my wife now wants to run 24/7. I don't have an amp meter yet to double check the actual current. Yea that's a good bit I would be missing, guess I need to decide if it's worth the few extra $$.
  • Post in thread: Design Check

Got my amp meter in today. Results are 21.25v from panel, and a 0.3a draw from the pump. 6.375w surprisingly less than rated. I tilted the panel to make sure it was pointed right at the sun when pulling the info as well. Yea its not the best but better than nothing. We have it routed up...
  • Post in thread: DIY power box

Thanks for the reply. I couldnt find the progressive dynamics controller but Ive found this one it looks like it could do both AC/DC and balance the battery...
  • Post in thread: Design Check

Location is upstate SC. We do get below freezing, usually just at night though. The tech data on the pump: Operating voltage: 18v Included solar panel power: 25w Max pump power: 10w Max water lift: 6.9ft Max flow rate: 370gph Amazon.com: 25W Solar Water Pump KIT: DC Dry-Run Protection Water...

Forgot to ask what brand? Can I send you my address for a shipping quote?
  • Post in thread: Battery box

Building my first battery box and need some help making sure im staying safe. Box will be mostly used in my van and charged from shore power for now. 8p4s lifepo4 using topband navitas cells. I am thinking about adding an external shut off but not sure if its necessary. This is my first build...

    Still available?
  • Post in thread: portable van house battery

I went back and reread the manual and realized that the RSP would be a much better option. Didnt realize the progressive dynamics charger didnt have a remote on/off. Thanks for bringing it up!
  • Post in thread: portable van house battery

I think charging the battery via shore power through the mppt is not going to work, the couple of things ive found arent promising. Going to pick up a shore charger and possible a DCDC charger at some point. If im making a 8p4s battery that would make it a 200ah pack I believe. The cells are...
  • Post in thread: Small pond pump battery backup

I am looking to add a bigger panel and a battery backup for my small pond pump. It came with a 25w panel that directly connects to the pump, but it only runs when its perfectly clear, and my wife has decided it needs to run 24/7. I have built a small 12v Lifepo4 battery for a van I had but...
  • Post in thread: Small pond pump battery backup

This is my current parts list. Would it be better to stick with the 2 panels vs 1 bigger panel from santan? Looks like the 2 panels in series will be around 10v higher than the single 250w panel. Still need a box to put everything in and a 24v battery. Thinking about unistrut to make my...

Interesting seems like a pretty economical way to set it up. Thanks
  • Post in thread: Small pond pump battery backup

Pump does work on 12v but at a much lower flow rate. Would definitely like to stay 18v if possible. At 12v it pulled around 4.5 watts.
  • Post in thread: DIY power box

Looking at trying to build my first powerbox for camping and backup power for a few things around the house if we loose power. Ive never built a battery pack or anything like this before so I could use some guidance. I want to charge it primarily from 110 from the house, and the van while...
  • Post in thread: Power Supply for Shore Power

It is 15v. I bought it because I couldnt figure out if I could use a power supply with an mppt. I would get a 24v version instead. if i do switch in the future what am I looking for feature wise in a power supply?
  • Post in thread: Q cell panels used

I believe Ive found the data sheet for them. Even at 10 years old they should still be around 308w a panel, which would put them at .44 a watt. I can pick them up so I wont have to pay shipping costs either. Im waiting for a response on a manufacture date on them. These panels are originally...
  • Post in thread: DIY power box

Rider - yes thats my plan for now just AC or DC from the van. I guess I missed inverter/chargers any brands better than others? Probably wont need much, maybe 1k continuous. Would really only be for fans, lights, maybe a TV if we lose power. Its better for the cells if I dont charge to fast...
