i like his creativity!!! my question is ..is there an already premade box for something like this? I was also wondering if you could use a DC venerable resistor in place of the light bulbs? I want to limit one of the cheep non limited 1000W grid tie inverters (in a test spperate side grid non...

I'm sure the Chinese ones are made Fairly cheap I could add more heat sinks and more fans but you got to look at Price versus what you're going to use it for all I really wanted to do is run at about half of its rated capacity or so maybe 65% and around $100 that's easily doable I don't expect...
  • Post in thread: ABB PVI 3.0 inverter low RISO in the mornings w used solar panels

i understand that.... this is still in R/D trying to trouble shoot this RISO issue... you are saying them not being grounded right now is causing the current leakage to earth ground?
  • Post in thread: ABB PVI 3.0 inverter low RISO in the mornings w used solar panels

Hello i have a 100% made form used components grid tie system. 30 250W Canadian solar used panels and a used APP PVI 3.0 inverter. got everything hooked up and mostly running well but i am having the dreaded RISO low messages especially in the mornings with moist conditions.. Right now its just...
  • Post in thread: Riso Low??

I am getting the same type of issues low riso values with an ABB PVI 3.0 (basically the exact same inverter) i didnt have the original problem u had though just the low riso....it will eventually start up later in the day and start producing..the riso has to do with current leaking out to earth...
  • Post in thread: ABB PVI 3.0 inverter low RISO in the mornings w used solar panels

this is a FULL DIY system i installed it. I have done that test individually on each panel in the string and found being that they are used panels many of them have current leakage from leads to frame. Is this riso test a function of transform less inverters or is it a function on all most of...
  • Post in thread: ABB PVI 3.0 inverter low RISO in the mornings w used solar panels

The other strange occurrence is if it successfully starts up in the morning and then later on the day the panels get directly rained on (very wet out there) as long as the inverter has already started up and has been running for part of the day it does not give a riso error seems to mainly be an...
  • Post in thread: DIY Arduino controlled limiter for non limiting grid tie inverter

I am trying to DIY build my own limiter for a non limiting 1000W grig tir inverter the best idea i have is to limit the DC input much the same was as lower sunlight limits the AC output. So i think this can be done with a circuit consisting of a mosfet (maybe some capacitors to smooth the...
  • Post in thread: Delta H6 6000W Grid-Tied Inverter NEW Battery-less Backup UL1741 Rule 21 2MPPT

I have an H6 that i installed back about 2-3 months ago. Phase 1 has just been 12 250W panels hooked to one of the MPPT channels (about 420V DC OC and something like 8A SC) so a max of 3000W. I have 10A DC breaker at the array, On the AC side i have a 30A 2 pole breaker for the H6 and a 15A 2...
  • Post in thread: DIY limiter for small non limited grid tie inverter?

ya but if i get the 600W one its still running full blast all the time wont last a week prob....i want one running around half its rated output for longevity also..i can config the batt to give it whatever V range its most happy with?
  • Post in thread: DIY limiter for small non limited grid tie inverter?

I have a 1000W unit that works down to 10.8V. At 14.8-15V, I'm only getting about 300W......the PWM controller does that its lowers the voltage the inverter sees and the light bulbs vary the current the inverter sees form the bat
  • Post in thread: Riso Low??

I have since got this problem down to a min. i found that running the feed lines underground too close to the main grounding rod for the main breaker panel can also sometimes make this worse.... it IS current leaking to earth ground either form underground feed lines or panel frames etc.(and it...
  • Post in thread: My 48V PIP-3048LV-MK MPPSOLAR project with 400watt panels stumble, need some help

i am about to buy a PIP-3048LV-MK and install it with some used Canadian solar 250W panels. The main complaint i have heard about the mpp solar units is the high idle consumption (mainly with the LV5048) which the 3048 seems to just be half of one of those? Do u have any good #'s on what the...
  • Post in thread: ABB PVI 3.0 inverter low RISO in the mornings w used solar panels

great so all i am going to get here is "panels needed to be grounded...bonded and grounded"....this is something i already know...what i currently dont know is how/why current can be leaking to earth ground if there not grounded and fully insulated form the earth...i posted here to learn more...
  • Post in thread: Delta H6 6000W Grid-Tied Inverter NEW Battery-less Backup UL1741 Rule 21 2MPPT

I guess i am finding out the hard way... hopefully its not damaged... can someone explain to me why exactly the AC breaker tripping is so bad for theses inverters? and how its different than a power outage? grid outage....im not saying i dont believe you but i still dont see how 3000W can trip a...

lol i was kinda thinking the same thing like ive heard this b 4 lol
  • Post in thread: DIY limiter for small non limited grid tie inverter?

ya and he said water might have goten in been watching his channel for years...i still want a way to put a set limit on what the 1000W can put out.... theres this thing... but i know little about it and its made who knows where lol
