Thanks, that's really useful. I didn't realise there was a BMS out there that could talk to the Growatt. But now I do. If I have to swap out the Daly I will. I have a Pi CAN Hat on it's way, so when that comes I'll try the PYLON emulator code on github and see how the growatt responds. If it...
We don't have fuses, we have RCDs (residual current safety switches) and breakers (trips I'm assuming). The distribution box and meter are all in the same box with non tamper links on the active wiring on the grid side of the meter (single phase system). The diagram goes something like.
Grid...
It's not in my manual. Hold down the "OK" button for 10 seconds to enter setup mode, then scroll down to the "RS 485" setting and press OK. in there you can switch from Battery to VPP. At least that's what I see on my SPH5000
I've got the same problem (though different battereis). I have RS485 connector for the growatt and plan to use a raspberry pi to emulate a supported battery. There's some pylon tech emulatorcode on github, but it's for CAN not RS485. From that it looks like the battery just sends status updates...
Given that my Growatt has a sticker on the front that says not to connect EPS and AC Out together. I think your install might have done someone hokey. My EPS is going to the generator in on the meter board. Inside there's a switch that allows grid OR generator (not both).
@2muschi I have the same setup as you (200Ah + Daly BMS+ Growatt SPH 5000). Can you share what your CC, CV, and LV settings are? Mine's working OK but I'm having trouble getting the Growatt to charge the battery until it's almost empty. Even when the Daly is reporting a SOC of 48% the Inverter...
I am seeing this happening with my system. I've only just installed the SPH 5000 on my shed (between the house and the grid). It's a cloudy day and as long as the house isn't drawing much, the house inverter is feeding that back to the growatt which is pushing the excess from the house into the...
The subject says it all. I was wondering whether anyone has tried connecting a solar panel micro inverter to a battery bank instead of a panel. I'm talking here about the grid connect micro inverters that go straight into 240V and have their own anti islanding protection. Obviously you would...
We just call them a "Power box" or "Distribution Panel" (If its inside). Us Aussies are a rather literal bunch :-)
Yes, there's two AC outlets on the Growatt, an AC Grid connector (for grid tie operation), and an EPS Connector (Emergency Power Supply). The manual takes great pains to state that...
Yes confirming that I'm trying to timeshift. And yes a powerwall or other similiar product would do exactly what I want. I just don't want to spend $15,000 especially when I have a number of the micro inverters already on the roof and hooked into the grid.
So in summary, yes, connect the...
Sorry, I wasn't clear. My intention is to have this functioning when the grid is available. This is an on grid scenario. So the microinverter will function. I just want it to function in the evening by switching the panel out and a 36V battery in.
Why? because the wholesale nature of the...
@Beastie_MCCXIX Quick one, what cable did you use? I'm trying to connect a Seplos BMS up to the Growatt and I'm looking for which pins on the Growatts RJ45 socket correspond to A and B on RS485. Am I correct in assuming from the above post that you used 4 and 5 to the RS485 adapter?
I have found *a* solution to this which doesn't involve switching out the CT Clamp. Though it's not a solution for the faint of heart. My SPH-5000 was doing this (consuming a small amount all night at low loads) despite having loads of battery capacity.
I adjusted the Inverter to switch to...
That's the setup I mistakenly bought (seplos RS485 BMS). But according to seplos support their growatt protocol only works on CAN. So you need a CAN based BMS to connect it to a Growatt. The Growatt uses RS485 for communicating with growatt batteries or other inverters.
