    Minor Backfeed Issue with Utility

Yea the transformer has me the most suspicious. More so than the inductance on the lines in the grid panel. The transformer testing is something I did for the first time since I got it and while house was using basically zero power no less.. Otherwise nothing had changed in my house grid/off...

    Minor Backfeed Issue with Utility

Yea same here. I personally made so many fail safes and design decisions to ensure that back feed would be impossible. And then of course they come knocking on my door. It would be very unfortunate if it was that transformer theory I mentioned. And had absolutely nothing to do with my solar...

    Minor Backfeed Issue with Utility

At that point not much. I took most of those heavy loads off gird. The whole point right. AC, well, fridge, washing machine, etc nothing left on grid except for some lights, range, microwave and air compressor, just didn't want to squeeze my inverter. Anyway None where in use at the time. Now...

    Minor Backfeed Issue with Utility

It is hybrid yes. Although it's supposed to only have grid interaction with the ac1 grid input. And not the ac2 gen input which is what I use when I do use it. But like I mentioned this was completely disconnected via contactor at the time. Which is why I suspect the induction theory.

    Minor Backfeed Issue with Utility

Wow. This just happened to me, Although my case is slightly different and wondering what everyone's opinion is. Just got a visit from Poco saying I backfed. My first response was impossible....I have a 3pole contactor that is manually activated to connect grid to my ac input of my xantrex xw6048...

    XW Pro Grid Support limitations?

I think I understand what you're saying now, and it makes complete sense, the neutral break you referred to is between the actual transformer in the inverter and the input either AC1 or AC2 (it doesn't matter since all the N are tied together "I agree"). This bond is crucial to balance and sync...

    XW Pro Grid Support limitations?

Thanks for your feedback, what you wrote surprised me and had me second guess what I did, haha. I just dug into my XW manual and as I remember it explicitly states that there is no control over the N, switching or disconnecting, furthermore it states it does not connect it to ground and an...

    XW Pro Grid Support limitations?

In my case my contactor is a 3 pole, so I disconnect L1,L2 , and N so I have nothing but ground connecting my off grid system to the grid. Everything I have shares the same ground and a single ground rod. So since the N is disconnected from the grid panel when in off grid mode I made the N-G...

    XW Pro Grid Support limitations?

I don't see why not, however I'm not as familiar with the wiring setup for the 3phase. It's been working perfectly for me So far, although I've only had to use the grid 2 or 3 times. I did try the generator load shave function but it acted strange and didn't seem to work well so I left that...

Can my off grid panel share a ground rod with Grid tie panel

I actually already have a 3 pole contactor that I'd use as the transfer switch, so that wouldn't have been the issue. But I do like the simplicity of what you describe. No N-G relay. So there is no possible way the inverter L1 ,L2 could somehow use the N from the grid as a return right. I...

Can my off grid panel share a ground rod with Grid tie panel

Interesting idea, so you're saying I should connect the neutral from the output of the inverter and the grid neutral permanently. Then my N-G Bond would be in the grid panel like you said. At which point I would only switch L1 and L2 from grid in the rare case I need "shore power" to my loads...

Can my off grid panel share a ground rod with Grid tie panel

Thanks for your input, that is what I thought as well. Very good thought, I actually plan on doing exactly that, however my inverter does not make or break any bonds with neutral and ground, it is all done in the circuit breaker panel. However I do plan on adding a contractor to break my off...

Can my off grid panel share a ground rod with Grid tie panel

Hi Everyone, I've tried to read through tons of threads looking for a similar situation as mine and came up empty. Sorry if it's been answered already. I also made a quick sketch of what I believe I should do but hope someone can double check. To me it seems ok. So I have a XW6048 LF...

    XW Pro Grid Support limitations?

thanks for the feedback, I actually don't have either an insight device or a combox. I just use the good old fashioned SCP control panel, which is the reason behind my contactor/relay. Id have the auxiliary turn on the contactor when the battery falls below xx Volts. so it would all be hands...

    XW Pro Grid Support limitations?

Hi everyone, I know this is a slightly older topic/thread, and id guess you already have rectified this issue, but thought id throw my 2 cents in to see what you thought since it sounds like we are trying to achieve the same goal of NOT selling or back feeding to the grid.. I do have a...
