  • Post in thread: Basic Question About Current in DC System

Look up Kirchoff's Laws in Wikipedia .
  • Post in thread: A New Type of Heat Pump

I see many posts on the difficulty of starting compressor type heat pumps. There is a French Company that has developed an acoustically driven heat pump system, using a high powered speaker in a closed system pumping helium gas at 30 bar. This system can run at any power level up to it's max and...
  • Post in thread: A New Type of Heat Pump

Helium is contained ~ 30 year life. Helium is now used for cooling large generators in power plants due to its large heat capacity and low viscosity. Helium is used in balloons . Yes it is only available from radioactive decay, but I don't see that coming to an end.
  • Post in thread: DIN CIRCUIT BREAKER

Thanks for your responses. Breakers will be dc. I like the idea to completely isolate the panels in case of a different circuit path. The panels will be 2s 2p for the 12 volt, because of an unadvertised feature of the PowMr that only allows 80 volts open circuit when charging 12 volt systems...
  • Post in thread: Basic Question About Current in DC System

The total current in and out of a node equals zero . nothing to do with resistance.
  • Post in thread: Solar controller to Battery disconnect

I have a question about the importance of maintaining a connection between a solar charge controller and the battery it charges. The instructions for my charger say hook up the battery first before the panels, or damage may occur. There are also instructions for fusing the connection between...

  • Post in thread: Battery voltage output

13.8 volts is the nominal voltage for automotive battery operated tranceivers. My Icom IC-7300 manual specs the poersupply voltage at 13.8 volts + or - 15 % or 11.73 to 15.87 volts.
  • Post in thread: Solar controller to Battery disconnect

So as long as the controller has seen the battery voltage, it would stay at that setting? (12,24,36,48)
  • Post in thread: Busbar insulation

I am nervous about having an exposed high current busbar on my new setup. I wonder if anyone can think of a cheap flexible cover that would insulate the busbar and be flameproof?
  • Post in thread: cheap Mppt any good ?

Please note the maximum input voltage on the PowMr MPPT 30-60A is only 80 volts for a 12 volt battery system, and 105 volts for a 24 volt system.
  • Post in thread: cheap Mppt any good ?

    Read the instruction manual.
  • Post in thread: DIN CIRCUIT BREAKER

I am about to build my first small pv system consisting of 4 100 panels in 2s2p arrangement, a PowMr 60 amp MPPT solar charger, an SOK 12 v 206 Ah battery and an existing modified sine wave inverter to drive hydroponic lights . There will also be a 12volt output for an Icom IC7300 transceiver...
  • Post in thread: Please reccomend a shunt or inductive for measuring small current/wattages.

    UNI-T UT210E ~$ 60 at Amazon. has 3 current ranges- 2A 20A 100A ac or dc .Resolution on 2amp range is 1 ma.
  • Post in thread: Please reccomend a shunt or inductive for measuring small current/wattages.

UNI-T UT210E is a hall effect device - no shunt and portable. very useful for measuring current in solar strings where the individual wires are available as opposed to a pair of wires. It can also be clamped around any of your high current interconnects or to check the accuracy of built in...
