i havent tried applying power yet, i saw rusty droplets of water and salt crystals and didnt want to rush to do it. will do if in a dead end or possibly when advised to. here are some pics, not sure they are exactly what you are asking for, didnt tear it all the way down just to the point of...
the samlex battery diagram doesnt have a dedicated grounding connection on the battery, it just lists the battery negative grounded to chassis - the eg4 manual says nothing about grounding in mobile applications, just grounding the chassis of the enclosure to the battery rack if you purchased...
update on the victron rep: says boards are fried and cant repair, i asked if there is a way to source replacement boards but the tone was very negative on a fix
just bought a used quattro 24v 120v 5kw and it seems to have been used on a boat. some salt crystals found and a few drops of rusty water fell out when turning it different orientations on the workbench. opened the bottom fan panel and see rust on the larger bolts on each side and black marks...
hey guys, have been reading the forum a lot over the last few years, i appreciate you all being so active of a community.
my question is: i have one eg4ll 24v and may expand to two later, i am curious if i can use the blue sea 350a fuse block as a common connection for the second battery- in...
i was hoping i could buy a new board, shouldnt be that expensive imo but if they are scarce that would change things. i believe victron coats their products in a conformal coating to prevent moisture and salt from damaging in boat applications, i wasnt sure how equivalent to non-treated...
actually had the victron sales rep follow up and ask for photos, hasnt responded since. but he mentioned in the initial response that after 10 years the parts start to become unavailable. good and bad that there are not enough dead products to have a robust third party parts market
Yes they have some great products, but they are primarily for the Eu/international market I think, so have things like the easysolar and ecomulti, which are neat ideas that they may not bring to USA or if they do may take a while
Is the mpp solar really transformerless? It may be worth mentioning the mpp solar and the growatt are transformerless and the pros and cons of that versus low frequency topology. Trying to see if any of the growatts have dual a/c inputs for grid + genset switching, anyone know off hand?
what is the proper manner to ground eg4 batteries to chassis in mobile (rv or boat) applications? i am pairing the battery with a samlex evo 4024 and the mobile schematic in the manual has the negative grounded to chassis, does the dedicated ground connection on the eg4 satisfy that requirement...
I know will said exactly the same but I think there are many models in different years and possibly simply with more or less features that are different. There is also often two modes of standby consumption: an idle but on consumption and a standby or soft off consumption that is not running but...
ill take more photos of this area, there is a lot of black and gritty residue that i assumed that was from fried electronics somewhere, sprayed across things as well
Is there any conversion loss? It seems in the data sheets that inverters running at higher voltages are more efficient, through conversion or resistance losses or some other reason I am not taking into account.
update: victron sales rep contacted me saying that with water ingress they would not likely try to repair it... a bit disappointed that there isnt a secondary market for parts if they fail in such a catastrophic manner
Victron offers more options when you include products with European Union standards (230v @ 50hz) does anyone know how to build a system to adapt it safely to split phase American electric standard (120v/240v @ 60hz). I heard most appliances work for either frequency is that true and it would...
I am very attracted to the victron eco system but I worry about power loss at elevation and wanted to give a buffer to load capacity so lean to the samlex evo 4024 or magnum 4kW or even a 5kw inverter from somewhere unless someone advises not to. Anyone ever run into elevation limitations?
How is the magnum inverter? It’s on the short list of inverters for me along with samlex and victron and the outlier solar edge or outback, not sure what to get yet was waiting to see if Will was going to do a video on the samlex or the sol ark or solar edge (I get the last two are not for the...
actually what i may be doing, busbars are kind of pricey (for a name brand) but it was possible i could halve the cost if i could use the fuse block for the positive side. victron lynx power in is a great reminder thank you.
