    POSITIVE REVIEW: Practical Preppers

All, I recently purchased additional modules for my HomeGrid from PP. I worked with Lori on this and everything went great. From giving me a great price to processing the order quickly to ensuring the modules were not delivered while I was out of the country, the service was outstanding...

    Sol-Ark and batteries

That's impressive production. WRT points of failure, if the comms link is broken, it becomes "no loop" and reverts to Voltage. The only real complexity I found with my rig was making the longer cable I needed. But, as I said, required === no. There are likely far more systems in use today...

    Sol-Ark and batteries

See now, this is really interesting. Solar Assistant can, in fact, relay data, but right now it's principally via MQTT. I use this to integrate my Sol-Ark into Home Assistant. It's actually possible to update settings via this chain as well.

    Sol-Ark and batteries

Ahh, that could be the point. I'm running Beta as well. At this point, I can edit any setting (both Power Management and Inverter Settings) and it will update them. After initial submission, it says "Rejected" and then the setting updates a few seconds later.

You are, of course, correct about RS485. I corrected my post to reflect this. I've also been able to establish comms with SA from the HomeGrid battery over CANbus. My confusion. Interesting point about the SA website. You can absolutely edit Sol-Ark settings on the SA software and push them...

    Sol-Ark and batteries

Yes, closed loop is beneficial. Fact. Assuming the BMS is decent, getting SOC data, along with charging parameters from the BMS is useful and beneficial. That said, is it required? No. In my case, I am using a Sol-Ark 15k with HomeGrid batteries. The BMS on the HomeGrid instructs the...

Is there a "most recommended" battery brand for value/safety/reliability?

It all depends on your needs. If you're in California, you've got to use CPUC "approved" gear, and the Sol-Ark + Homegrid combo is a great choice. If I weren't in CA, I'd strongly consider other alternatives, but I've got to say, my Sol-Ark 15k + Homegrid battery combo is pretty damned...

    Sol-Ark 15K Rejected by PG&E in California

Simply being commercial certainly does not guarantee well run anything. Capitalism is a peculiar system in that it requires INFORMED consumers that make choices with their dollars. Government run services or government regulated monopolies are not a substitute for informed consumers. WRT...

    Sol-Ark 15K Rejected by PG&E in California

Unfortunately, the government isn't actually good at anything, so if we try to hand it back to them, it will be even worse than it is now.

    Opinions on Fortress Power?

Two big differences that I see for the HomeGrid specs are a) UL9540 certification and b) 300A discharge current rating for 14.4kW/h and above packs. The Growatt Axe 5.0 seems like its rated current is 60A with a 10s peak at 300A. Don't know if that's for a single pack and it stacks (getting...

New 48 volt rack battery specs-what do you want to see?

If you're gonna do this, it would be easier to simply make the device an MQTT provider. Could be something like this to leverage the existing RS485 support: https://github.com/nygma2004/growatt2mqtt Would be an option, but since this left the "budget" category several times...

Server rack batteries in an RV?

First, I understood it as "several" which could mean as many as 4. Second, you do you. ?

Server rack batteries in an RV?

It's worth also considering "floor loading". You're talking about stacking up several hundred pounds with a 24x24" footprint. Most RV storage bay floor's won't handle that without reinforcement. You'll rapidly find yourself leaving a pile of batteries for the cars behind you as your rolling...

    CATL 271Ah cell issues.

Every one of my cells fall into serious deformation category. So 8 cells.
