Where I live, the power sometimes goes out and [natural gas] heating goes down with it because fans stop working. I have a 240V split-phase generator inlet with manual transfer switch, which works fine but it's loud and we have to turn it off at night. I am now looking to also have an...
I understand your point... In my defense, I have been looking for much less powerful than 6k inverter.
Thanks for warning me on battery degradation problem. I'm wondering if there is mitigation for liion batteries, since I already ordered these. Keep them at 80% charge?...
@snoobler do you know how legit is the company which sells these inverters? I tried ordering one and they added Utah tax on top of the order even though I'm not in Utah, and my state has no sales tax. I emailed support and they replied "Since we are in Utah, We are required to charge Utah state...
I was just looking to hook the house through generator inlet. I don't really even need to power anything that runs on 220V.
I wonder if it would be a problem if I simply bond two phases together given that house will not be on main power when inlet in operating, and even if somehow main power...
I do indeed have an interlock, so that's taken care of, but I should probably think of installing some sort of inline fuse to protect inverter from over-current. Although, don't inverters typically have internal fuses/breakers?
So... given that, what would be an appropriate inverter to get? It...
> Also, balanced 120V loads will show zero watts when measuring the neutral wire for load...
It's possible I guess, although I still don't understand why would loads become balanced when feeding house from generator, but not from battery. What gauge would you recommend for measuring the power...
5000W/24V split phase version here. Something is going on that I can not understand. I built a 10KW/h battery bank and use this inverter to plug said bank into generator inlet. All works fine, except somehow my house uses 2x power when run on battery compared to generator.
On generator (pure...
What ticks me off in that inverter price is that I can get 8750W inverter generator for $800 - which already has split phase inverter built in, more power and cheaper than inverter alone, and you get an extra generator for bonus. Da heck.
Have anybody here had any experience with following inverter? https://www.amazon.com/AMPINVT-15000watts-Inverter-Frequency-Batteries/dp/B07WJLB8KP/
NVM, found discussion thread here: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/ampinvt-24v-3000w-inverter-chargers.2223/
> Measuring only the current on the neutral wire will not show 240V loads.
In my scenario, there wasn't any active 240V loads. I have range and heat pump on 240V circuits, but both were off when I measured. Every load was using one of 110V phases
I got a 5000W version of this inverter a few days ago, and now I'm trying to understand if there is any way to get a finer configuration out of it. The RS485 port on this product, anybody here knows - is it for management, and if yes then what software works with it?
@murphylawe, if you are still using the same inverter, how are your impressions so far? I am looking to get it for emergencies, wondering if it is worth, quality-wise
