I also made the mistake of buying magnum. I'm a solar pro (NABCEP 032611-321) and BSEE, and trusted Magnum based on their past reputation. BIG MISTAKE. What you're looking for is called a HYBRID inverter - it works as grid tie AND backup. Atlas, Sol-Ark, Growatt, and MANY others can do this. Don't scrimp on your first system. As a MINIMUM I would go with a 2KW (continuous) inverter and 2KW of solar panels ( 7 X 300) or ( 5 X 400). The cost difference will be fairly small and you won't REGRET buying cheap junk that falls apart. A SINGLE 5KW LiFePo4 battery will get you started, but...- Reaction score: 0
