    LiFePO4 Battery Warmer Install

Maybe downsize your power needs? Instead of a web camera with live data/communications, could you add trail/game cameras? I have them for photos that last the winter on a set of AA batteries. You would save to memory cards and get them in the spring. For me, it's exciting to drive to camp to...

    LiFePO4 Battery Warmer Install

I'd skip solar up there. Maybe wind, or an autostart generator. NREL doesn't even rate the solar insolation. Even in July, you're bordering on minimal solar. https://www.nrel.gov/gis/assets/images/solar-july-ghi-2018-usa-scale-01.jpg

Solving for voltage drop over 200'

Could you move some batteries and the inverter into the dwelling? Leaving the slow, but steady charging from solar over the the long wire? The high current draw could happen quickly with the batteries and inverter inside, slowly recharging from any remaining batteries and solar in the container.

Trying to power a damaged Ranch

Check fuel availability and price for your location. I've found that propane has weird pricing. Diesel has 1.5 x the amount of BTU's that propane has. https://epact.energy.gov/fuel-conversion-factors I'm not knowledgeable of the magnum inverter/charger. I have a couple of Victron...

Trying to power a damaged Ranch

Victron Mul Victron Multiplus will use the batteries to "boost" the grid. But mine is only programmed if the grid (generator in my case) is limited in amperage. You could try setting a lower grid input amperage, just enough that the batteries/ solar/wind will maintain the levels. I'm not sure...

Trying to power a damaged Ranch

Watch out for the math. Wholesale prices of electricity is not the retail price. You can check out CALISO to see the wholesale prices. The supply of solar when the solar is out is starting to exceed demand. The government added credits and net metering rules to increase solar usage. Now...

    BMS Shutoff and SCC's? Uuummm...

I'm having the same problem. If my battery's BMS shuts off due to low voltage, my Outback FlexMax 60 will not work until I charge the batteries past 10V. It's a manual intervention that is necessary to start the SCC, not matter how much sun there is. It's not the issue about the SCC losing...

Battery REQUIRED to be connected to SCC???

My Outback FlexMax 60 MPPT SCC needs a battery to turn itself on. I try to leave the batteries on and the solar attempting to get some charge during the winter. My reason is a dehumidification system that needs to work during the sunny spring days, and using the solar to heat the LiFePO4...

Have a question about passive solar heating placement

Just quickly reading this. One question. If it's cold outside, and there is no valves or dampers, wouldn't you get a cooling effect? ie warm air from your ceiling entering the heat exchanger that is radiant cooling to the night sky. That would drop the air temperature and pump cold air in at...

BattleBorn sale. Blemished 100AH about $500 USD.

https://battlebornbatteries.com/product-category/holiday-savings/ I just bought the 500AH with the Victron Multiplus.

    Minimizing Consumption

Get the Pro gun. You can use one can for months. The regular cans with the tube don't last long. You'll save on foam, but the gun is a little more expensive. You can seal any small gap whenever you like without wasting the can. Also, make yourself a blower door. You can either pull a...

What disconnect did you guys use?

I work for a major electronics defense contractor. We blew a lot of money trying to create a large surface arc with a power divider/combiner. It failed. Maybe I could succeed with a $50 switch... Really, If this is ever disconnected, it won't be slowly, trying to strike an arc. It will...

What disconnect did you guys use?

Wouldn't each contact share the full amperage? The positive would run from the panels, through one side of the knife switch, through the rotating switch and out the other side. The return power would also share the same amperage. ie all 4 knife contacts see full power. Any one that fails...

What disconnect did you guys use?

I have to admit, I would have moved the left (furthest from the handle inwards to the vacant middle position. If the grease goes away, and the contact sticks, the necked down shaft could snap. It's cheap, but this is only a disconnect switch. If it sees a dozen cycles in years, that's alot...

What disconnect did you guys use?

Just received it yesterday. It's a simple knife switch on a rotating shaft. It's not spring-loaded, just manual rotation. Yes, it's rated 250VDC, UL listed. I
