Thank you for this! As a EE it drives me nuts when "experts" on the Forums and Amazon give advice and it's so obvious they are speaking out of their arse.
I'm going to replace my kaput Pb (lead acid) batteries with LiFePO4 soon. One thing that was holding me back was finding a low temperature disconnect to prevent charging ( nd destroying) the batteries below 0 degrees C. The few commercial devices I found seemed pretty expensive and overkill ( I...
I’m curious to do a similar project, but how do you make such a project leak proof?
In the south of France I saw agricultural buildings which had solar panels for a roof, but I wasn’t able to get close enough to see how they made them leak proof.
I plan on doing the same thing ( forced air cooling using water through cooling fins). with the head unit ( blower and heat exchanger) from a deceased mini split AC. However our spring water is about 60 degrees and we Ave at least 4 GPM. 1/4 GPM sounds insufficient for any benefit Try digging...
There is no sign of blown debris. I’m wondering if one of my bear friends got frisky and decided to clambor over the array. It must have taken quite a blow.
I see so many pallets of used mono-crystalline PV panels for sale on FZB market place. They are usually 3-5 years old, sold by surplus outfits. What’s the deal? Are these worth having?
We have an off grid cabin with 1.25 kW Pv array. The lead acid batteries at six years of age are kaput.
So I was planning to home brew my own LiFeP04 battery bank and buy BMS and build the compression structure for it. But as of late I am looking at the prices of “prepackaged batteries“ and...
I was a bit surprised when I went to check on my PV array last week and found one of the panel’s tempered glass was completely shattered. Still in place but all cracked up as tempered glass tends to do. What would cause this? The others are fine.
Based on Will’s videos I bought a pair of EPEVER 4215BN MPPT charge controllers for an off grid cabin, thinking they supported LIFEPO4 batteries.
Besides having no lithium settings, I find it has no low temperature cut off. My Zooms/Redodo battery BMS’s do not have a low temperature cut off...
Has anyone bought from OLPZ ?
Their prices are either great or to good to be true.

So far all I have found that has low temperature cut off is the S OK battery and $1000 for 200 amp hours. Meanwhile I have found comparable batteries which Will gave a good review of for $650. But they have no low temperature disconnect
As far as I can tell there dooesn’t seem to be any standard for the physical size of PV panels. Perhaps I have just missed it, but are they just made to whatever standard every different manufacturer chooses? Or is there a set of sizes specified by some engineering association ?
Well I am past the return date so if you could share your settings and the order in which you put them in that would be helpful thank you. And you’re right it is crazy how their menu system works if you don’t put things in in the right order and hold your tongue just write you get parameter...
I have never tried what you are suggesting but bear in mind , to start the generator turning, you might need a significant amount of force. You definitely will if there is a load on it. or if it is a pM ( permanent magnet) generator with significant "cogging".
