  • Post in thread: Should I get the EG4 mini-split?

Quick update. I ordered the 12k BTU/hr AC/DC model today after showing my wife the size of the of the inside units (9k vs 12k). Signature Solar has free shipping right now, so that was nice. Now I just need to install it, which might be April so my Dad can help me. And I need to try to...
  • Post in thread: Bluetti EB3A Dead on Arrival (DoA)

Quick update: I got a replacement for my first EB3A and have done some very limited testing. Updated to latest firmware AC charging at ~260W with standard mode AC output works Inductive charging works USB-C works for charging 65W max input laptop 12V Car charging is only 30 watts. Don't know...
  • Post in thread: Should I get the EG4 mini-split?

I originally wanted to get the hybrid version but it's not as efficient. The AC only version is SEER 29.5 and the hybrid version is SEER 22. At 25% lower efficiency I would need to run it with 25% solar power to break even. I also don't have a great place for putting the panels, but could...

The differences in ratio between SEER2 and EER2 is interesting. If it was just the EG4 datasheet I could see it being a typo, but it's basically the same on energy stars website. I will have to ponder this more.
  • Post in thread: Should I get the EG4 mini-split?

Thanks for the input everyone and the install pics. I asked my friend who does building science for commercial buildings about the large differences in SEER to EER ratio for different mini-splits. He said that in theory seer should be more important since it measures the unit at part load...
  • Post in thread: Bluetti EB3A Dead on Arrival (DoA)

After emailing Bluetti every few days they finally sent me a pre-paid return label and I shipped the unit back to them yesterday. Hopefully the replacement unit works. I really want to like this unit.

The attached 3rd image in my original post is of the specification page for the EB3A. It shows that a solar charging cable is included. I think they were originally going to sell it without a cable, but changed their mind. Maybe they are shipping it separately?

Are there any models you recommend looking at? I saw Klimaire and Aire for around the same price but they are less Effect at SEER 19 and 19.5 respectfully. The Klimaire did have 25' lines so that's a plus for me.
  • Post in thread: Using gen.1 Nissan leaf battery pack as home battery backup

I know this is an old thread, but this guy used a high voltage leaf battery back for storage. https://github.com/dalathegreat/BYD-Battery-Emulator-For-Gen24

I contacted them through the app on 7/1 and haven't gotten a response yet. I am going to email them at service@bluettipower.com today.
  • Post in thread: Bluetti EB3A Dead on Arrival (DoA)

No one ever replied to my app request and it's status is still "applying". After several emails I was able to get a replacement unit that has been trouble free.
  • Post in thread: Bluetti EB3A Dead on Arrival (DoA)

My Bluetti EB3A arrived yesterday and would not turn on. I plugged in the AC power cord and still nothing. I then connected 12 V to the solar input and was able to turn on the screen and connect with the app. The app told me that there is a battery pack communication failure. I put in a...

I looked at the case more closely and decided opening it is not practical. I think it's glued together.
  • Post in thread: U.S. source for NEP microinverters?

Any updates? I do thermal analysis for a living. The additional potting can help with heat transfer between the electronics and the case. Also fillers can be added to potting material to make them more thermally conductive, but there fillers usually increase cost. However, like previous stated...
  • Post in thread: Should I get the EG4 mini-split?

Does the EG4 mini-split make sense for me or is there anything else I should consider? I am looking at the 9000 BTU, SEER 29.5, AC only, plug-N-cool version from signature solar for $1249. Is there anything else I should consider? I have a 2400 sq. ft. 2-story house with a 24-year old 4-ton AC...
