In looking at most RV solar diagrams the PV system is wired after the master cut off. My question is why wouldn't you want before the Master cut off switch. I would think that you would want kill the 12volt system but maintain your solar for charging. What I am missing?
Sorry for the confusion my question is the connection from the solar controller to the battery. Most diagrams have that connection made after master cut switch, so when the switch is closed there would be no charging vs before switch so your able to charge batteries while killing power to the 12...
Thank You for all the advice, I am mounting these on a RV roof so there exposure to the elements will be very minimal, plus living in the desert southwest water and moisture are not going to be a problem. I am thinking of not messing them at all, and install them as is. I was able to get...
I have 50-amp service in my RV and I want to run one of the 120/v legs through my Xantrex 2000XC inverter/charger to power my outlets and microwave oven circuits, and run the other leg directly to my 50-amp Distribution. I have a couple of questions.
Can I do this?
How do I spilt the actually...
Used my 2-200-amp Li-Time batteries (100-amp BMS) wired in parallel for the first time this weekend camping in a RV and the BMS would randomly shut the batteries every morning (3 times). I was able to re-start them from my friend’s generator by plugging into the shore line. I had 13.2 volts when...
I just got back last night so I haven't had a chance to really exam the system, but I am going to pull the batteries and check them individually for voltage and and try to duplicate the fault with them separately, not sure how I am going to that yet but I am researching that now. I know just...
What is the inverter cut off?
I think its 10.2 volts or 11.2 volts
Are all battery connections, interconnects, etc., properly torqued?
They were, but I am going double check
Is voltage drop consistent with calculations?
Not sure how to answer this
Are any components like switches, breakers...
Which configuration would be optimal for a fifth wheel. I am leaning towards 2S2P to compensate for any shading on one side or the other, and the movement of the sun during the day. This is my first attempt at solar and really wanting it to plan it out well. I am a boondock camper, mountains...
I might be over-thinking this, but should I be using or need busbars to parallel connect 2-LiTime 200ah batteries? The manual show this configuration.
My plan was too wire the system in the standard parallel configuration .
The busbars seems to be a lot of extra wiring, cost, and complexity. I...
