Hi to all the DIY solar enthusiasts
I was originally planning on building 12v 200ah bank using 2 12v 100ah batteries in parallel.
They would be used in my caravan to travel off the grid around Australia.
After reading through this very informative forum, i noticed the great deals with Xuba...
I was told by Redarc manufacturer that they tell their clients to jumper a external 12v source to the battery terminal to restart their solar controller.
Their new combination dc to dc / mppt controller will repower it self from a solar or vehicle 12v power source without 12v from battery.
I...
Hi Chris
I will check out RJ energy. How much was the freight and what form of transport did you use.
Seem like a lot of people like the suppler called Xuba on Alibaba.
Did someone recommend RJ energy.
RU building 2 *12v batteries or 24v.
What BMS will you be using.
Thanks
Emmanuel
Working in metric units.
Building a compression frame with 2 end plates and 4 threaded rods with nuts, one in each corner.
It would be handy if someone could calculate the torque in newton/meters that would have to be applied on each nut to create a force of 2942 newtons on the cells.
The...
Cinergi Thanks for pointing out the post.
Luthj suggest 12psi or 82Kpa pressure
From this online torque calculator https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/bolt-torque-load-calculator-d_2065.html
using rod dia .008m, force 2942newton, k=2.
Torque nuts result around 3Nm.
Doesn't sound very tight.
Did RJ energy charge you GST or do you have to pay it at some stage through customs like people in the US and Canada have to.
The packing looks really good from RJ energy compared to XUBA packaging.
Considering one of the main complaints about Chinese supplied cells are damage in transit.
I will...
Hi Josh
I'm planning on building a similar battery for my 16 ft caravan.
Was going for a smaller 2 bank of 12V 100ah but saw the good price of theses 280ah cells from XUBA.
It's just the price of freight that is expensive.
Will be watching how you build goes.
Just wanted to know the difference between a/c Z and DC IR because if i purchased some cells from Alibaba, i would only be able to test DC IR and compare it to the a/c Z value in the manufacturers spec sheet EG EVE 290ah 0.25 m ohm a/c.
To determine if the cells are new and A grade or used...
Hi Thedodgeronlin
Yes Agnes water is still a peaceful beach side township
It's grown a bit since i used to come here for school holidays.
Been retired here for a few years.
Will do
Can you private message on this forum
I intended to use the internal cell voltage drop( no load - load voltage) to find the cell IR= V drop with load/ current in load.
And with the higher test current you may get a more accurate figure because the cell voltage drop to load current may not be linear at lower currents.
Is this cell...
Hi
I was considering building 2*12v 120ah batteries in parallel with separate BMS's but are concern that if the situation like you explained occurred where one weak cell in one battery caused a LV disconnect and the other good battery and charger would still charge the disconnected battery...
Hi Pierre
Thanks for your review.
Been down your way in 1995 when south Africa won the world cup. Was in Joberg for the celebrations.
Spent 3mth travelling all round south Africa and Zimbabwe.
Walked up table mountain twice.
Cape town was my favorite spot. Less violence. friendly people those...
Hows it Pierre
My parents are Dutch and have a uncle that lived in Durban. I don't think he had trouble picking up the Africans language.
Like you i like the idea of using a laptop to communicate with BMS
I found a youtube video that you may have not seen that mentions a guy that has played...
The plastic sheets would be extra protection between the cells when compressed.
Going what i have read on this thread.
EVE cells only have a thin insulating film on the aluminium casing to isolate the positive of the cell .
Yes i was intending operating 2 batteries in parallel
If one battery had a faulty cell (eg high Z or out of balance) causing the BMS to prematurely disconnect due to cell over voltage during charging or low cell voltage during discharge. the good battery would supply the load.
My concern was if...
