    Solar for a school farm

Hi All I am starting to develop a farm for a school in Cornwall, UK. It will be small but will be power to run irrigation for a polytunnel. I have found a pump that is 36v DC and 2.5 amps DC with recommendation for 2 x 60w panels. However, we will also need to use sound equipment for lessons...

Small Install for lights and sockets only

Thanks for all the help so far. So I started watching some of Will's videos and taking some steps towards building a system. The first thing I started to do is to do a power assessment and immediately ran into a hiccup! We have just bought an electric car which draws 2.3kw in charge on its own...

Small Install for lights and sockets only

Again very useful advice. The AIO are they power units like Ecoflow units. I was looking at a Delta. Because if that is so I could run a multi-gang extension lead and then run a variety of systems of that and not play with the fuse board or anything else.

Small Install for lights and sockets only

Thanks for the reply and excellent advice. I will need to do a power survey to ensure that that doesn't happen.

Small Install for lights and sockets only

Hi I am hoping this doesn't sound completely mad to people and someone can help. We have a small budget to build a small on-grid solar system. When I get quotes for a system, they are costing £14000+ which we don't have the money for. So, I have been attempting to think outside of the box and...

    Low Income, how to start

Hi Thanks for all the replies: @Forbisher We currently pay £80 a month with the whole house running electric only (heating, cooking etc). I gather electricity prices will only continue to rise. I do want to save money but I also want to go off-grid to encourage others around me to do the same...

    Low Income, how to start

Hi I have built a 300 watt off-grid shed which charges all my batteries, runs some power tools and lighting. I now want to move up in the world and take my house off-grid, but I am low income. To start with someone is giving me a 5kw diesel generator. So I am working on: 1. Batteries and...

    Wanting to learn

Hi I have been reading and trying to see a way through and with a limited budget, asking the question, "Where do I start?" So I have a plan! 1. Purchase a 100 watt glass solar panel - but how can I tell what is a good panel and what is cheap. I have listed two from Ebay...

    Wanting to learn

That video is very useful. I checked out his book and will probably buy. Having used his calculation I am looking at a 12000wh system which seems excessively large but it will be running a couple of power tools. So going with the rest of his advice on his video I need to look at how I run my...

    Wanting to learn

Thanks. Who is Will and does he post on Youtube please? Your test system looks very clean. So, I will look at improving my wiring. 1. I run the chop saw almost daily and that draws 1400 watts. What do you mean by days backup please? I'll answer the next questions once I understand the days...

    Wanting to learn

Hi All I am a youth worker based in Cornwall, UK and over the last few years I have been teaching myself several new hobbies as I head towards 60 and possible retirement! Although not probable! A few years ago we were able to buy our first house which was amazing and I turned to learning...
