So are you saying that outputting 240v (both legs), the meter could notice that the legs are unbalanced? Is this why most people are using two separate 120v grid-tie inverters (120v) that feed the two individual legs? I would really like to use a single 240v inverter (connected to L1 and L2)...

Thanks for the clarification. So it seems outputting 240v (to L1 and L2) is possible with the 1000GTIL2 and 2000GTIL2 inverters. But would the current limiter work in such a configuration? Which leg would you attach the current limiter to in order to get a whole house reading?

So do the units typically come with two Ct's, or would I have to buy a 2nd one? I assume the CT's are wired in parallel and one goes on L1 while the other goes on L2?
